PAF wanted to downgrade the 2000-5 and it costed still a lot… I remember some force had the IFR of the F16 removed and it costed more… So it isn’t wrong to start with cheap one and upgrade a bit. Next step is better one…

Ditch the medium tech and gow for lower? Sounds flipflop to me. I doubt they will leave fc1 ever.

Maybe it is correct that it is lower tech but it is probably cheaper and esier to find ecport orders. If you look at the other export products you will see that it is cheap. And that is the major selling point.

I was more talking about J11-J10-Fc1-F7 relationship. Since J10 has same size engine as J11… I thought it might end up in medium weight.

    – J10 a light weight?

    – F7mf to sell a low tech and even more cheaper (less then 10 million USD) with bvr?

    Modifications
The Pakistan Air Force currently has the Block 15 F-16A/B model in operation, which has an upgraded APG-66 radar that brings it close to the MLU (Mid-life Update) radar technology. The main advantage is the ability to use the AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles if they were ever to be released to the PAF. Furthermore, the radar is capable of sorting out tight formations of aircraft and has a 15%-20% range increase over previous models.

Also, all PAF F-16s are now OCU standard, like the Peace Gate 3 and 4 aircraft were supposed to be like with the P&W engines upgraded to the 220 standard.

Pakistan sends F-16s to Turkey for exercise
    Thursday, September 30, 2004 – 07:45 AM

Pakistan has sent six of its F-16 fighters to Konya Air Base, Turkey to participate in a joint military exercise codenamed “Anatolian Eagle” which is held from 27 September untill 08 October.

Besides Pakistan, the air forces of the United States, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy and Turkey are also joining the exercise.

The Duth Air Force will take part in this exercise with F-16s from the 313 ‘Tiger’ squadron based at Twenthe.

The participants will simulate air battle scenarios in demanding operational environments. The fortnight-long exercise should help train Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officers and men and serve as “a milestone in strengthening ties between countries participating” in the manoeuvre.

PAF chief Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat will visit Turkey to witness the air operations.

The PAF has earlier participated in multi-national exercises with the United States, the United Kingdom, Iran and Turkey.

The first Anatolian Eagle exercise by the United States, Turkey, and Israel took place over southern Turkey for 13 days ending 29 June 2001. Since then, Anatolian Eagle has become an annual event, open to NATO air forces.

The range has at present been fully developed into a simulated hostile environment.

The USAFE weapons training range near Konya Air Base, is located some 260 kilometers (162 miles) south of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and about 140 miles northwest of Incirlik Air Base. The range is a facility for training in surface attack tactics and weapons employment. USAFE and the Turkish Air Force jointly use the range.

Konya was also host to the live-flying exercise NATO Air Meet 04 which took place from 04 untill 16 September 2004.

I thought it would have longer strike range and act as command and control unit. But the looks are amazing. Even better then Flanker which was number uno.

Not a chance to see PAF f16 with any kind of BVR. I read somewhere they were not allowed to modify them. Whether they are capable. Read that somewhere but there have been no upgrades so they will lack a lot compared to the average f16c. But they will have enough chance to look at other capable planes. About BVR. There were many reports from PAF that they were training anti BVR. Maybe very handy in this training cause they are the only one lacking… 😉

Can anyone explain me why the mirage 5 (or 3) is not comparable with Jaguar or Fbc1? Thanks.

I read somewhere that Abrams were parked cause they had no personnel. With adding Pakistnai military it would be much easier to adapt to the same tanks. No need to train again and no problems with spare parts.
