It is not a great looking plane due to it’s nose. If the nose was projected forward so the cockpit was in the middle it would look nicer. But its not there to look good it’s there to carry people and make money. I just hope its loud! My hearing has started to ruturn after many years of Concorde(RIP 🙁 ), lets hope the 380’s makes people turn round and stare everytime it lands and takes off?
If we wanted a good looking aircraft get the Russians to design it! IL62,76,86, Tu154, great looking aircraft, and coal fired 😉 !

I would guess it would be via ship to Gibralter and the to either Lisbon or Madrid. Lisbon was the main open port during WW2. BOAC operated through there regually with flying boats, and up to around 1944 Lufthansa did with landplanes(FW200?). I think LH maintained a link to Barcelona until a few months before the end of the war. Sweden was a risky flight in a Mossie and would have had no ships travelling that way I would suppose.

Nice photos, where is this collection? Have been to the Krakow museum which was excellent, but very underfunded. Nice to see a IL28, would love to see one in the air.

The hounslow Tiger Moth was EM967 according to ‘wrecks and relics 3’ from 1968, this is currently registered as G-AHOO and has a current CofA . So if W&R is correct it was not burnt? Anybody expand, photos?

BWIA has been rescued more times than a lifeboy. It nearly went down in 03 when I was in barbados. Last thing it needs is a loss making route.Would have though atleast the MAN route would survive? What about a service to mainland Europe, Frankfurt of Scandanavia? I know the French and Dutch stick to their(former) islands but Europe is largely an untaped market.

    Nice pictures. 🙂

Last time I was at Heathrow, a rather attractive WPC and her rather unattractive male colleague moved me on from roughly where these were taken. I was on foot, too.

    Just my luck…… 🙁

Oh dear must have been a slack day and they had nothing better to do? There were too many people there today for them to bother with.

Nice ones there, did you take the reg on the AA?

I didn’t as I got my last one a couple of weeks ago, took me yonks to get N789AN

Nice shots, good to see a MYT A330 in full scheme. I just always seem to see the old blue scheme ones.

The SBAC show flood was 15/09/68. I didn’t know there was a Devon buried there, how long will it be before were excavating the site to see if anything remains of it? The canal is actually The Basingstoke Canal and was once owned by my great grandfathers brother Alec. For more info see –

    http://www.basingstoke-canal.org.uk

The Devon was XA879, which was on the dump and had its wings removed as a make shift plug on 23/9/68. There is a photo in ‘forever Farnborough’ by Peter Cooper but I am not sure of it’s exact location.
