Virgin and BWIA also fly from MAN to Barbados(BGI) a couple of times a week I think?
Plus VIR fly there daily from LGW plus a couple of times a week to Antigua and StLucia. Good job they are extending the terminal at BGI as it used to be bad enough with the BA 777,VIR 747 and a charter A330 all ariving within 1/2 hour, and it was chaos.
The Craibbean is a great place to spot, very relaxed. Get a hotel under the approach its even better 😀 . Time to go back once Caribstar get their new DHC8-300’s!
A very sad and senceless loos. Saw what was left of the nose in the AAIb hangar here at farnborough a few years ago. Really made me think about flying, but doesn’t bear thinking about.
I would love a look round but very steep, do I get a Spit for that price!
Oh by the way I am a spotter, but don’t posses a stp ladder!!:D
I thought Cosford had a Andover? Or is it still with the SCoTT for future preservation? I remeber the HS748M prptotype being on the dump at Benson in the 80’s, shame it was not preserved.
Have Boscombe Down got and Andovers left in service?
We have to recognise that Legends is attended by 80%+ by the general public. What does the public want? I guess an exciting flying display and a good day out?
Personally I have no idea of what the public wants. I am a spotter, pure and simple. Legends is a great show but for me 90%+ of the attending warbirds are the same each year. What I would like to see is
More european warbirds(Red bull team, SAAB B17, Swiss Ju52’s etc). Plus some sort of static in the area between the ‘flying’ hangar and the superhangar. A few of the museums acessable aircraft draged out and a some of the visiting aircarft from the far side. In the past years these have included the German (D-FUKK!!!) ex SAAF Harvards, Swiss Pc2 and PC3’s. To my mind these are more interesting than the warbirds!
For the imported warbirds howe about the Polikarpovs(?) from New Zealand, apperancies must be pretty limited over there?
I would love to see the C30 flying too. After all there was flying until 1958 in this country and I think later in Sweden?
The Dutch Connie is my most eagily awaited aircraft.
Also would love to see a FW190 or Me262 flying in the UK some time soon.
Oh and can we have the two Polikarpov flighters from NZ for Legends. Would love to see them:D
Have they extended the runway at BRI reciently. Its a few years since I have been there but it didn’t look long enough for a 767 full load? 757 of CO would be fine. Cardiff is a bit remote from the main tourist areas for any American passengers wanting to go to the Cotswolds of Devon.
The Lasham collection was the example I was going to give. No work seems to have been carried out here for about 10 years.
It seems to be in a time warp. The Drover belongs at the DH museum and the Sea Prince C1 at the FAAM. There Meteors are pretty rare also.
The Lightning on the A1 is probably the worse single example in the UK of ‘preservation’.
The Mercure has to be the biggest commercial failure. However I liked that back in the 80’s at ORY with a constant stream of Air Inter.
The Trident was a commercial failure, with 90% going to BEA/BA and some of the other 10% coming back to them in the end. Although the VC10 was a bigger commercial failure, but they are still flying.
The VFW614 was before its time, regional jets didn’t make it until 15 years later.
Of course there are those that never made it into production from the Brabazon to the RJX.
I flew on PAA Miamai-Orlando and Orlando-Atlanta in 1990 in 727’s. Love 727’s. Really deregulation killed PAA in the US domestic market. Remember in the 50’s and 60’s PAA was the US ‘state’ airline and got the key international routes. With dergulation thay faced massive compertition across their routes and that was the sliperey slope to bankrupicy.
Hi it was EP-IBB on the 19th, sadly I saw it at AMS last year!
I cant really see it. BA will stick with the 777/747 for quite a while. They have been hit heavily on the N.Atlantic so long hall will be a matter of consolidation for a while. BA are a Boeing long haul airline anyway.
Nice shot, I bet it became very warm a few seconds after it was taken??
I have always had a few published, mainly due to a small airshow here in a few months:D . They have started putting up the exhibition area, always a welcome singn that we will get something but bizjets in soon!

I love delays on the inbound flights to the UK.However, when your flight is scheduled to depart at 1.00am from Bangkok, a delay of several hours isn’t so good. Obviously the views aren’t so great at that hour! :p
There is nothing like night spotting! For five years I only ever went to see the freighters at Ostende at 4 in the morning off the ferry. You have to eat more carrotts!!!;)
Flew LHR-LAX in a VIR 747-2 in 1992 but due to exsessive headwinds we had to land at Denver for refuel! It was torture for the other 300+ pax except me as I made over 100 new airline frames in the 2 hour turnround, heaven!!!
Am I the only one who wants a massive delay on return to the uk from abroad????
