There is a similarity between the J-8II and MiG-23 front section. When get to the wing and the latter off-course that changes….
Does the silver cover over the exhaust here have a similar function?
As is well known, aircraft like the Su-27 etc. have no trouble performing the cobra maneuvre, however, watching the footage of it, I was wondering how it was possible that the aircraft remains in semi level flight when the majority of other aircraft in the world would have descended in a stall far earlier. Are the wings still generating lift force? Or is it the sheer momentum of the aircraft and its powerful engines that enable the aircraft to complete the maneuvre?
Any help would be appreciated.
Well the top guy for this would be martinez
Checkout his post – http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1077829&postcount=106
The basic lines of the J-8II suggest a Sukhoi influence from the Su-15. However the air intakes look like dead ringers for those found on the MiG-23. It only vaguely resembles the Ye-152a that seems to be the basis for the Mig-21 derived J-8I.
Lot of people talk about the J-8II being influenced by the Su-15, but the J-8 to J-8II actually has the MiG-23 Influence. There is an entire gallery at CDF comparing the modification to the J-8II and the MiG-23.
Hui Tong has changed his J-10B entry again regarding the RADAR (Again). Now its back to AESA from PESA (Russian origin) : http://cnair.top81.cn/J-10_J-11_FC-1.htm

fire-control radar is thought to be an X-band AESA developed by the 607 Institute

It seems there is something pretty close to an official confirmation of an X-band AESA being certified last year? Will wait and see for an officially statement.
I second that! 🙂
Interesting picture. Its also matches with NPO Saturn’s image.
I third that…..
paralay, if you have one, could you please post an image of the model at Pogosyan?
thanx a million in advance…..

Official name is DF-21C (Drop the DF-25). DF-21C is believed to have CEP of 30m – 50m (Not sure how official that figure is though).

ahhh….. the beauty
Cancelled 1st flight in August or was there a 1st flight planned in August in the 1st place? Was the 1st-flight in August an official thing or just the fanboys shouting?
To be honest, does anybody outside the loop actually know what the Russian schedule is? After all they don’t owe us any answers. Things will happen when things are ready….
Like I said before, the new image posted by Deino is consistent with some of semi-acceptable images floating around. The NPO-Saturn drawing, RCS test video, and that badge displayed at MAKS-2009. But then again those ‘leaks/glimpse’ could be a deliberate misinformation campaign to hide the real thing.
So we just have to patient until the official unveiling.
