Dates prove to be true: a prototype will show on August, 14-18th
OK…for the record… You got my hopes high…:D
Yeah, Jack Northrop has to be recognized for his accomplishments. I’ve always been fascinated that the B-2 has the EXACT wingspan as Northrop’s original design.
Re the stealth aspect, it appears that the flying wing has an intrinsic stealth capability attributable to its shape. The USAF actually noted that the Northrop flying wings registered poorly on radar but they never really thought much more about it.
Absolutely… It seems it is exact to the last inch ….Before Jack Northrop died, they decided to show him the B-2. He was quite old and he left the aerospace industry for good along time ago after the YB-49 cancellation. But they granted permission to show him the B-2.
Regarding fly wings…
It was not only the Horten brothers. Jack Northrop was another with XB-35/YB-49 which made several flights. But as some already pointed out, it simply wasn’t feasible in the pre-FBW days.
Member Tango III must be given tons of credit for keeping the news threads. I mainly come for the news and pics thread.
You have to hand it to the Nazis, they really were ahead of their time in a lot of areas. The Ho 229 would look advanced if it rolled of the factory floor today. Northrup-Grumman actually rebuilt a scale model of the thing and tested its stealth capabilities. Watch for the TV special this week.
Got this from a Modern Marvels Episode,

I think they should go it alone. There is already the ATD-X, project ‘ShinShin’. It has already come to a certain stage.

They went alone with P-X, C-X. 5th gen plane would be different ball game, but personally like to see them go it alone.
PS:
Article says “Japan Could Be Offered $290 Million F-22″
Ah you mean The Sun and its famous page 3
For those non-UK readers who may not know – WARNING – NSFW!

The latest rumour is that the Americans will not get the MRCA contract as they are insisting on their intrusive End User Agreements. The IAF is unwillling to go along so the US is being given all kinds of smaller contracts like the C-130Js (6 ordered + 8 more to be ordered soon), 12 CH-47s, 22 Attack helicopters (probably Apache) etc. Not sure if Congress will grant an exemption in order to secure the deal.
That actually sounds like good news…..
Hope the EF-Typhoon wins…:D
The J-10B appears to still be using the AL-31F.
Not this one, at least. Most likely one of the other Chengdu or AVIC jets is doing it. Although with the redesigned intake, it’d have seemed logical for the J-10B to be fitted with the new engine. It may not be as efficient with the AL-31, preventing the J-10B’s flight envelope from being fully explored.
Pretty much…..and it seems to be the original AL-31FN and not even the AL-31FN-M# variant with 3D-TVC that was supposed to have been purchased sometime back….
Even the 1st J-11B regiment carries AL-31F and not the WS-10A as previously thought…
…..
Understood Zero…
Point take….and thanx for the clarification…

Since the original report stated “have twin engines and be able to take off and land with a short airstrip”
Could it be a variant of the Yak-43?
It’s fine, I thought you were making a really silly fenqing (angry Chinese nationalist) statement.
Most countries “recognise” China’s “one China policy” in that Taiwan is part of the PRC. But that can mean they say “we know you have a policy” or “we agree with your policy”. But if it were the latter then they wouldn’t recognise Taiwanese passports and wouldn’t have any negotiations of any sort with Taiwan. In reality most nations recognise that Taiwan is independent, they just play a game of the emperor’s new clothes to keep Beijing happy.
As for arms sales, because the US is Taiwan’s best customer there’s a question as to whether Taipei could use Russia that easily. Plus does Taiwan want to use equipment that China has as well – I don’t know. But Russia could sell Taiwan weapons and/or assist military technology if it wanted to.
So the questions are, does Taiwan want it, is Russia willing to give it and are we going to ever know about it (and if so, how much will we know)?
I see…..
understood…
Thanx for the reply Musashi 🙂
