Srilanka has the ability to stay neutral and act independently and pursue it’s relationship for mutual benefit with India, China and Pakistan in dehyphenated manner without having to antagonize any of the above. It will be extremely foolhardy and short sighted of Srilanka to let itself be used against India. But in the same vain India wouldn’t be allowed to create another LTTE. Srilanka has showed the nerve to stand up and safeguard it’s interest inspite of all the noises by Indian South bloc.
As for QuantumFX/HyperXYZ, this is the first time i have met a Srilankan (allegedly) -and i have met quite a few- who loves to choke and gag on someone who waves their d!ck about some imaginary and quasi monroe doctorine in Indian ocean.
Errr………could you rephrase that?
No, only the aircraft on the left in the first picture (see the much larger intakes !) the aircraft on the right looks like a H-6G (PLA-N) or late H-6M with four pylons.
All others are regular PLAAF H-models.
I should have been a bit more specific. I mean the one on the left hand side and the one flying in the next pic…
If you look closely at the blurry image of the flying one…..it seem to have a black nose and almost the same missile config as the parked one
H-6K?

H-6H with KD-63

she’s a beauty…..
Well according to AFM resident legal expert swerve, IIRC, its actually NOT a constitutional prohibition, ban, embargo (or what ever) etc… but a policy but successive Japanese governments?
So does this mean there might be Japanese made AESA RADARs on the market in future? 😀
If SL don’t play its cards right and as long as there is a Tamil population there, then India can always find an excuse to intervene and despite having a good military it stands little chance standing up to an Indian intervention.
All big countries have their buffer zones and spheres of influence and would not like others to violate them. How would China like a Pro West Myanmar or North korea ? Same with Georgia and Russia. I am sorry may not be fair but that is how it is.
That is indeed true….. its the simple reality… The current leadership here in SL clearly understands this…. Off-course India under Dr. Manmohan singh has not been unreasonable so far. When there could have been a questionable military purchase/action on part of the SL govt. India provided us with an alternative. For example the Indra-II RADARs.
SL leadership is indeed smart enough in this sense. They wouldn’t want to upset India, but I think Chinese help (which played a major part in routing of LTTE) is unlikely to be ignored either. Both SL govt and leadership have their own interests, and having a counterweight to Indian influence within SL might be considered advantageous by some…though it would mean delicate balancing of relations.
Chinese help played huge part when it came to the war… No doubt… and make no mistake we are extremely grateful for this.
India said it could only provide defensive equipment, support. RADARs, A/D system, intelligence, training, etc….
Most of our equipment are from PRC.
from the Type-56 rifle to 152mm, 122mm, 130mm big guns, Mortars, 122mm MLRS, ATGM, J-7G, K-8 and the list goes on and on. But these are not strategic weapons which will effect India. On the other hand a very advanced, powerful 3D RADAR and other surveillance type equipment can have an effect on India.
After PRC it would be the Czech republic specially the RM-70, then Pakistan and so on…
But the last thing the SL govt. would do is get into a tug-o-war between 2 big powers (India-PRC). The current SL Govt. has made that clear. SL will be more like the “little kid brother” who says “please don’t fight”…to his big brothers 🙂
They have also said that they want to get closer to Russia. And they have been doing so the past 2-3 years. This is were the MiG-29 and other Russian weapons come in. The MiG-29 is a reasonable choice especially considering India having tons of experience with the Fulcrum. IIRC, there is a new Mi-17 deal with Russia soon….
IMHO, future modernization of the SL armed forces will include more Russian equipment, since that would be less unacceptable to India.
The current SL govt. made it very clear that it wants to get closer with Non-western nations at same time being self-sufficient in certain areas (especially economically) while being much less reliant on western nations. IMHO that is the right way do go…
Wrong! Srilanka first “request” India, if declined only they turn to China.
They know what they want, Quality.
Not exactly……
More than quality…..its about not upsetting the security and territorial integrity of India. India is the regional power and the current leadership here in SL is smart in that sense. They made it very clear that they won’t do anything that might upset India. Thats why we got the Indra-II RADARs and the Air-Defense system free. Off-course those RADARs did their job.
So when it come to certain purchases… it is indeed a phone call to New Delhi first……:D
