i am a bit underwhelmed with the size of the armament bay considering the size of the jet. I thought they could have more room extending further toward the back of the body.
I don’t necessarily disagree with that. Looks like it will have similar limitations to the F-22 when it comes to A-to-G munitions.
Not necessarily. The deeper middle is where the ejector racks and the AAM fins go. Same as F-22.
Yup, you are correct. I forgot about the ejectors – http://media.defense.gov/2012/Apr/13/2000161345/-1/-1/0/120413-F-OD451-001.JPG

PS: The J-10B/C might make an appearance at Zhuhai as well. Love the see the J-10B perform with the AL-31FN Series 3 which has 1000 kgf more thrust than the original AL-31FN.

Getting ready for Zhuhai 2016:
Notice the weapons-bay design. Its deeper in the middle. Likely for larger A-to-G munitions.

J-10C again:

3 different flavors: J-10B (AL-31FN), J-10B (WS-10B), J-10C
J-10B (AL-31FN)
J-10B (WS-10B)
J-10C

It kind of got lost in the last thread but I was wondering if anybody here knew anything about alleged PESA radar mounted in the Zambian L-15Z? What sort of range and compatibility does it have? Do we even have a name?
the L-15Z is an upgraded AFT version (Attack/Fighter/Trainer) – http://www.janes.com/article/63940/aad-2016-china-s-hongdu-l-15aft-showcased-by-zambian-air-force
The Zambian version has a small ESA radar (PESA?). Speculated to have a max range of 110km but target size not known (http://chinese-military-aviation.blogspot.com/p/trainers.html#JL-10). It seems the PLAAF JL-10 does not have an ESA.

Sorry to say this but I have a grudging admiration for Chinese Airforce , they may not have a top of line fighter but they buy and build what their industry can make and build on that as much less capable it may be but that is how they build an Aerospace Industry and MIC which supports their independent foreign policy.
Compare that to IAF they just got Rafale worth $9 billion to stop depleting squdron strength and then they have Tejas ready after 15 years and almost at nascent stage of production run , Now they want to build another 100 Single Engine Imported Fighter spending billions into program that can put into Tejas and ramp up production both at HAL and Pvt Player and start the building blocks of Aerospcae Industry …….but no these guys want to import another fighter and MOD is more than happy to play to the gallery and rubber stamp it.
I like the NLCA a lot. I was hoping a variant of it would one day hit the IAF in numbers. Maybe even for the SLAF. What baffles me the most is the slow pace of production. IAF seem to satisfied with the Tejas for the role it has to play, so why isn’t production ramping up? Is the fault with HAL?
But, one thing, as South Asian myself, kickbacks/bribes/corruption is a day to day thing. During our previous Rajapaksha regime the kickbacks were as high as 35% :stupid: :stupid: 😡 😡 Its probably not as bad as that in India, but I get the feeling someone is going get rich if the new foreign single-engined fighter goes ahead.
Some one is hell bent on sabotaging Tejas , They will build another type of Single Engine Fighter and then they will say Tejas is not on par and built more of that single engine fighter.
This is stupidity and sabotaging of Tejas program at Nth level.
Maybe someone is getting kickbacks to do so…
PS: Why is HAL so slow at producing the LCA? They should have had atleast 50 flying by now
Exports:
Rafale – 80 (further orders quite possible)
J-10 –
Doemstic:
Rafale – >150 (France land area 643,801 km²)
J-10 – ~400 (China land area 9.597 million km²)
China is even bigger with maritime borders. Rafale has much higher density considering the size of its nation. So the Rafale is the far more successful per km². It also has carrier capable version which gives it more marketing opportunities unlike the J-10.
Biggest issue would be the J-10 engines. If the MiG-29 is competing, why would Russia agree to provide engines for an export J-10? JF-17/FC-1 has a Russian engine but it is sold as a lower budget plane and Russia doesn’t compete in that market. Only recently did the PLAAF started testing 2x J-10B with WS-10B.
And don’t forget, the newer J-10 versions, the J-10B and J-10C are not for export. In contrast MiG-29K, MiG-35 are all available for export. So no comparison.
J-10B with WS-10B: Its unclear whether this is either #154 or #155. If it is not, then could mean WS-10B for J-10 is maturing.

Hongdu is falling behind Chengdu and Shenyang. They are strategic assets, but China is anything but a strict union. Regional centers are all playing against one another jockeying for influence no different than MiG, Sukhoi, Yakovlev, Tupovlev, etc
Hongdu (HAIG) is doing quite well. They have a very successful product in K-8/JL-8. L-15 has one international order and more likely to follow plus the major thing is the JL-10 entering service in 2015. Hongdu-Yakovlev CJ-7 also made its first flight this year.
When it comes to major strategic projects that has full support/priority of the PLAAF, we have,
CAC: J-20
XAC: Y-20, H-20
