WS-20 on Il-76 testbed,

J-10C #35 with 2x PL-10 missiles:

considering the ratio “nose cone/top speed”, what would be the top speed of the Mirage F1?
***
looks to me, at least 30% faster than a Mig31, if not more, right? 😀
Confused! Confused! Confused!

I also know that the D30-F6 has around 15000kgf of thrust, but what on earth does that has to do with idz 117..
The two engines are completly different.
I also know the F-135 has a lot more thrust.. but again why drag completly different engines and jets into this.Ahh.. the ever foggy thrust claims on F119, ofcourse its way higher thrust, its just doesn’t say so on officials web site cause of..?
Guess you are one of the P & W lickers whom also claim the F-135 has +45.000 lb of thrust then..***
According to the official source the F119-PW-100 is 35,000 Pound Thrust class (1)(2), that is almost 15876 kgf (~156 kN). In contrast the 117 in emergency power hits 147 kN. Unofficial/speculated values for the F119 go a lot higher.
Anyway i wonder if anyone can give me little bit info on what radar did China put inside their J-11 family ?
As far as i know.. the earliest J-11B were using a slotted planar array called as “Shedian-10” I wonder if that slotted planar array radar also make it to the J-15, J-16 etc.
Anyway i believe J-11D got an ESA radar, would love to know more about it.
Designations are not clear to say the least,
J-11B/BS/BH/BSH: Type 1493 Planar array
J-15: Type 1493 Planar array
J-16/J-16D: AESA from 607 Institute (Designation unknown)
J-11D: AESA from 14th Institute (Designation unknown)
‘Howlers’ such as the Jane’s Su-35/T-50 radar story are a symptom of the gradual departure from the scene of veteran reporters who individually had 20 or 30 years of defence reporting experience, and the absence of an new generation able to replace them. The experience level in many editorial offices has shrunk dramatically, and Jane’s may have been particularly hard hit.
Three of the aviation and defence journalists of my acquaintance have retired, two have semi-retired, three have moved to better-paying jobs in public-relations, and three have died. Salaries and payment rates (never exactly lavish in the past) are not high enough to attract good people to replace them, so the problem is likely to get worse.
At Le Bourget last year I heard much talk of an associated problem – shrinking advertising budgets at a shrinking number of defence companies. Thirty years ago the UK and French industries were big enough to support national promotional magazines, something that would be unthinkable today. With Aviation Week now a fortnightly title, Armed Forces Journal closed, and at least one other title known to be in difficulties, I fear we may be seeing the gradual collapse of traditional defence publishing.
This is not just happening in aviation and defence journalism. In an article I read recently, a former newspaper journalist described how having lost their experienced reporters, papers had hired “web-savvy newbies with little or no journalism experience” to take their place.
During my school days, it was a prestige to own even a magazine from Janes let alone something as big as “Janes All The Worlds Aircrafts”. Times really have changed.
Some quality journalism from Janes: http://www.janes.com/article/58166/singapore-airshow-2016-analysis-pak-fa-s-asian-export-hopes-stymied-by-lack-of-fifth-generation-qualities

Both the T-50’s NIIP Irbis radar and the NPO Saturn 117S engine that are two of the major subsystems of the T-50 are the same as those installed in the Su-35.

Indeed! Very high quality stuff.

^ cool. Quantumfx, Indian Navy bought some patrol boats from Lanka, do you know any more info or spec about them? Thanx 🙂
IN bought from SL?:confused: Nope, 1st time I am hearing this. The only boats I can think of are Arrow speed boats for special units. These were very useful in preventing suicide attacks. Other would be Colombo class boats.
