nice video showing APU exhaust doors opening and closing prior to engine start-up sequence, probably featuring the AL-31FN(or its chinese clone) with engine gearbox and the gtde-117 gas turbine power engine unit arranged at the bottom of a/c…

Rumour wise it is said to be an engine by ‘MMPP Salut’. Al-31FMx variant?

In the last contest, Swerve won the contest and received a prize (actually some one else beat him but Swerve was the runner up). If you’re lucky maybe he’ll show what it was

Part 2.. Predict the winners for these contests:

Brazil FX2: (Super Hornet, Rafale, Gripen, Su-35?)
    Indian Helo: (Ch-47, Mi-26)
    Indian Transport: C-27, C-295, Il-112
Indian SARS: Shin meiwa US-2, Beriev Be 200, Bomberman 415
Malaysian MMRCA: (Typhoon, Rafale, Gripen, Super Hornet, maybe some Russian type)
Swiss AF: (is it really Gripen or will Rafale come out of nowhere?)
Korean FX: Eurofighter, F-15, F-35, others?
The first Su-35 export customer will be?

winner will be the one who gets most of them right.

Selections in bold and first Su-35 export customer? Vietnam

    Edit : Vietnam or Venezuela

    Acc. to Media quotes:
    ————-Agni 3—-Agni 5
    Length——-16.7m—–17m
    Dia.———-1.85m——2m
    Weighs——48tonne—50tonne

Only a small change in dimensions but quite a jump in range. Impressive. I am getting a feeling the official 5000km is the politically correct range and this thing could go fair bit more… http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a085.gif

is it just my eyes 😮 or the 5000km Agni-V actually looks no bigger, if not smaller than its predecessors?

and so now they promote Su-35 to WTF? vietnam, I dont know some russian being this deperate and pathetic.

Vietnam is a very logical market for the Su-35. They already operate Su-30MK2V and have been buying a lot advanced Russian hardware including Yakhont missiles.

The Phazatron statement regarding range for the smaller, old array was actually that they tracked numerous targets @ 148 kilometers.

Just going off that I would imagine Zhuk-AE has some good figures by now.
RCS of target is unknown, either 5m2 or 3m2 likely.

Think it is 3m^2 target @ 250km (From one of the Aero India shows). Initially it was 130km then 200km with increased T/R modules and then 250km with the original number of modules but improved processing capabilities.

Total impossible, just like China buying anything from Russia.
    Like engines.

Buying full Su-35 is different from buying engines. They could have bought upgraded flankers in the past but they didn’t. Su-35 maybe the most advanced flanker around but they can be satisfied with the J-11B variants. Engines are are a completely different story. PRC needs Russian engines not just because they more advanced but simply, No engine, no flying 😀

Pakistan selling Shaheen II blueprints to NKorea? Thats odd! Usually NK is one selling missile blueprints, and it looks nothing like a Shaheen II.
