Trident ,
aren’t you feeling tired?
So another engine problem solved? – Link
…Recent images (March 2012) indicated that a new batch of Z-10s are entering the service featuring better PNVS/TVDS similar to the ones onboard the prototype (S/N LH981xx?), suggesting its underpowered engine problem may have partially been solved.
Z-10 batch 2 with the full complement of sensors?

Austere,
I just stumbled upon this : http://obiekt.seesaa.net/article/123009807.html
Using Google Translater, it seems to be maximum detection range of 102nm (189km) for fighter size (F-16?) target??
Anyone speak Japanese here? swerve?
A summary would be nice 😮
…

For the very 1st prototype its quite good. She doesn’t even have the 5th gen engines. But the minimum radius turn was nowhere near the J-10. In the 2008 J-10 does it in about 18-19 sec 2010 was something like 16-17 sec IIRC.
I’ve heard the value 130km quite some time back (not sure how authentic either) and whether this for 1m^2, 3m^2 or something else I don’t recall.
Manned –
USA – F-22, F-35
Russia – T-50
PRC – J-20, J-21, JH-7B/1x
Japan – Development of ATD-X
South Korea – KF-X
India – AMCA
what else?
I’m still not convinced the J-20 is an out and out fighter.
So I would be very easily convinced the Chinese have a second machine on the way to complement it.
IIRC you said that because of the wing area?

now if what Deinosaur says is correct.. that its aimed at export.. it means only one thing..
China: We don’t want to sell Pakistan our J-20’s, but we’ll make a special export 5th gen aircraft for them
J-20 is not for sale (similar to the F-22). Doubt the J-20 will be mass produced like a J-7/J-8 (maybe J-11). The chit-chat at Chinese defense BBS is the J-20 will only be in the elite squadrons. Initially it was believed that CAC will create the J-21, a single engined downgraded version of the J-20 but it seem SAC has grabbed the opportunity instead.
Regarding Pakistan, I think they made it clear that the J-20 does not suite their needs. Maybe a the J-21 or a single engined stealthy JF-17, but the J-20 (or even only Su-27/F-15 type heavy planes) don’t interest/suite them.
IMO if there won’t be that “surprise” some eagerly await for from Russia, I suspect the next one will be yet another type from Xina, either the rumoured SAC J-19 …
Hui Tong now calls it J-21
Either Japan or India. If funding won’t be cut further I’d lean towards Japan.
