I have a question, especially for Deino
In this blog,…
Its not a prototype. IIRC this before 1991… I am not sure about the date though
You can check out the ‘J-10, A History.‘ thread at CDF – Link (*registration required though)
Reply 31 by =GT has a few more pictures of the that mock-up.
Through out that thread you get some fun stuff. Early speculations, legitimate leaks, PS jobs/fakes and so on
π
Deino, the 1st one is an F-35.
PS : Few more
IMO, the unidentified engine with shiny but short petals is FADEC equipped WS-10G. 2 WS-10G were handled over in 08.2009 by Honglin ( AVIC Factory 143), then we believe itβs WS-15 prototype, but now it seems itβs WS-10G with uprated thrust at 14.5 Tons max,
Pinko,
I remember this table from a few years back (Attached image)
So is it correct to say :
WS-10 – 12,800 kgf (Also called FSW-10 and is used in the J-11B/BS/BH/BSH)
WS-10A – 13,200 kgf
WS-10B – 13,500 kgf & TVC
WS-10G – At least 14,500 kgf (maybe 15,500 kgf & 3D TVC)
All the above are by Shenyang?
Xian : WS-9 QinLing, QinLing-2, WS-15
A close up, judge for yourselves. To me, it doesn’t look like any of the usual suspects. The shiny, seemingly equal sized petals look like the WS-10, but they seem to be able to constrict more than the WS-10, more like the AL-31, in previous pics. The prominent ring of “dots” is unlike any other engine. Some engines do have ring(s) of “dots” around the nozzle, but none quite like this.

Ok now, that IS weird… From that angle it doesn’t look like a WS-10 nozzle
Is this 2002 or 2001 with new engines?

Those petals look like the ones on the WS-10. Maybe this is the WS-10A with slighty higher thrust?
I don’t think you can just swap engines. Probably 2 different engine types for the 2 prototypes.

Yup, I must agree with Erkokite…..
Thanx a lot for those pics MSphere. 1st time I’ve seen those….
You’ve perhaps confused South Korea with Taiwan?
There was a report that Taiwan was building a 3rd generation fighter (known as 5th generation by US/Russia).
but anyway : http://www.chinapost.com.tw/taiwan/national/national-news/2009/06/20/212963/Military-evaluating.htm
So will Taiwan get F-35 or F-15 Silent Eagle now?? Maybe both??
They are developing their own 5-gen fighter. Little or no details though…
So pretty:
Sooooooo pretty! π
Only the PL-12C has foldable wings for internal carriage? What about the others?
Regards,
HAmmer
Honestly I have no idea. That’s why I put the question mark at the end. π
Also from CMF, a comparison of the size of the J-20 in relation to the J-10 and the ubiquitous JAC light truck.
By this gauge this thing is about flanker size if not smaller.

I actually did some calculations. Since the J-10 is 16.43m J-20 value doesn’t go over 21m or roughly 69 feet (worst case).
wondering whether the wing geometry is modeled properly. There seems to be a wing trailing edge perpendicular to the a/c axis, am I right?
Yup….. you are right…..
GAOSHAN has to flip the angle…

People at CAC have a sense of humour too…..:D
I’ve been pounding the strakes as well, i hope they can do away with them.
Otherwise a very fine LO supersonic fighter, has China made any fighter with negative stability to date ?
What’s the odds they will release any specifications ? and when ?[IMG*]http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=191234&d=1β¦]
In another 5 (maybe 10) years π
Only in 2009 did they officially release some data on the J-10. We still don’t know the specs for RADAR and other internal stuff.
