Flex? Martinez? Any comments on this?
This intake certainly has some mysteries…
Oh dear….

Let me proclaim the YF-23 as the Queen of the “Miss 5th Generation Contest” with a 100 points threshold.
The positions are
1. YF-23: 100 points
2. T-50: 80 points
3. F-22: 70 points
4. F-35: 50 points
5. Boeing X-32: 30 pointsThat’s my list.
Yep….. Agreed with that list.
My only change as obligatory pointed out would be Boeing X-32: -30 points
But the J-10B is nearly ready to enter serial production whereas the FGFA will need its time … and for sure a lot of more time even to make its first flight. As such a starnge comnparison.
🙁Sorry guys, this discussion is completely senseless and reminds me of Dr. Carlo Kopps comparison of the F-22 and the Su-27 in an older AI feature.
As said by some: both aircarft are from two different generations and both are different classes.
If You like, then compare the T-50 + FGFA with the XXJ or all with the Raptor … but currently there’s nothing realy to compare, since the T-50 has just entered flight testing, the FGFA will need its time and the XXJ too.
Deino
Precisely Deino. Comparison is quite senseless. Its like comparing the YF-23 Vs. F-16 BLK 60. The two planes are of different generations.
If the YF-23 was brought in to the list yeah then, definitely the Black Widow II, otherwise definitely the T-50.

Huh?
People are still at it with the whole S-Duct things?

some would argue that the J-10B has an advantage in its radar systems, smaller rcs, and an inlet design that better hides the compressor face of the engines.
Well the Russians seem to have a very interesting compressor blocker design that should take care of the engine face. IIRC The current prototype won’t have it but Prototype 03 or something like that will have it. Not a F/A-18E/F, EF-Typhoon type blocker but something allot more complicated (more in line of the X-32 blocker).
Plus you are forgetting the T-50’s internal weapons load compared the the draggy, unstealthy external load of the J-10B. Stealth, Supercruise, supermaneuvarability.
Theoretically speaking the only area the J-10B could match the T-50 I guess is in certain avionics. But this is just a big… humongous guess! Nothing more. J-10B systems are all still RUMORS. Rumor wise the J-10B is said to have an X-Band AESA from 607 Institute, a very advanced EW suite and the most interesting rumor I heard was some limited “Plasma-Stealth” system. But again, I repeat, these are rumors.
Ahhhh……….
I’m going with Russian beauty on this one : Link
Raptor has a very brute-masculine look. I think ladies would like that….
…
great stuff ……

PS: Any plans for a GTX 480
Huh? Is there any comparison?
First of all….. officially we know absolutely NOTHING about the J-10B systems.
Even if we knew and lets assume it comparable to the F-16 Block 60, its like comparing F-16 Block 60 Vs. F-22. Don’t forget the J-10B is still at its prototype stage. J-10B is not a counter to 5th Gen planes. Some of the 5th gen sub-systems intended for the J-XX maybe used in the J-10B but still there is a very big gap.
Hotdog,
you really got me confused with this thread

Maybe new picture ….
Something just doesn’t feel right with that picutre
The T-50 is a gorgeous aircraft. But even it, next to the Su-27, seems an ugly duckling
…
Agreed….
The classic Su-27 is one of those all-time beauties.
You are surprised…?
Its by SAC (Shenyang Aircraft Corporation)…What else did you expect….? CAC and even XAC has more promise. Thank goodness CAC won the J-XX contract, but somehow SAC got a subcontractor role (some say due to politics, otherwise they would have got no part in the J-XX).
