Very interesting…. That method could be used hide an almost completely exposed engine-face. Nice….
I find it surprising because it does not look a tiny bit like F-22A. F-22 looks musculous and bulky, this one is slender and sleek, almost fragile..
.
.
.
From the front, back and sides… yes it does NOT look anything like the F-22. From the top/bottom looks more like the YF-22/F-22 than the YF-23 – Link
All in all…..i think its a pretty unique bird… Very Russian! Its still the 1st flying prototype. I think the final production version will look even better

On http://www.F-16.net they claim its a bad copy of YF-23:rolleyes:
.

ummmm…… its F-16.net. What did you expect? To me the PAK-FA is the second most beautiful plane in recent times. No. 1 for me is the YF-23.
Regarding the whole “its a bad copy of the YF-23”, “its a mix of YF-23 & F-22”, “It just a dressed up flanker”? Well… a member at CDF put it nicely…let me quote it:
Some say PAK-FA looks like F-22, some say F-23, some say dressed up Flanker. This adds up one conclusion: It is really a distinct aircraft.

Is that a fighter-plane version of a mating ritual… :eek::D
Strange, why have the ‘Report post’ button at all if the moderators are going to ignore it. I’ve used it multiple times but the mods seemed to ignore them.
.
.

Which was my point…. Best is to PM the webmaster or the mods at the 1st sign of trouble.

Sometimes the number of flaimbaits reach such a point that it’s difficult to follow the original context of the thread.
It usually starts with: LCA sucks, my fighter is so much superior.
I know….. Its extremely annouying. Sometimes it is almost impossible to find relevant posts. Pages and pages of off-course topic bovine-excrement. Its like sifting through rubble. The ignore button doesn’t help either..
best thing is to PM the webmaster or the mods
Deino, I think you will love this ! 😉

MMMMMMMM…………
little beauty…
Other 5th gen models exist in Russia. And who knows that Ukrain must have inherited from Russia to pass on to China.
Other models? Possible…
PAK-FA? don’t think so

I suppose thisis used to report disrupting posts ?
so unless reporting button is used to flamebait around here, I’m at a loss to understand your comment.
regards.
Rahul, I think sometime back the webmaster himself admitted the “Report post” option is kinda…. ummmm .. doesn’t get the job done
Best is to actually to PM the webmaster, moderators at the 1st sign of trouble
China? I’m not too sure wheither China will have something “stealthy” anytime soon, I’m not saying they can’t do it, not at all, I think they’re just as capable as doing something like this just as anyone, I just have a gut feeling that they’ll just purchase PAK-FA’s and go on from there…Why not. I maybe wrong though and a bit of me is hoping I am because I’d like to see China take their own root.

Won’t happen…. India is a partner in the PAK-FA project (FGFA). The PAK-FA has to enter the Russian and Indian armed forces 1st, and from what I have heard the 2 nations want 400 – 500 aircraft. And even when those numbers are fulfilled any export offer to the PRC would probably be a very dumbed-down version. Ask Teer about this. It seems the India certainly is NOT going to compromise on any sale to the PRC.
To add to that the PRC has put its full weight behind the J-XX. The No. 2 guy of the PLAAF said so in an interview. CAC/611 won the contract (2008 August?). One very specific requirement is supercruise with an internal load at Mach 1.5+. All aspect stealth is another IIRC. This plane is said to have a very low/flat, blended profile.
When will the J-XX fly? Well that completely different question.
The the serpentine intakes of the YF-23 is much more extreme than that of the T-50. But they, could have modified the intake to hide the engine-face. Possibly an F/A-18E/F like RADAR blocker perhaps? I think the X-32 also had something like that. They did some heavy surgery to the Su-35BM intake and engine face to reduce the RCS
From what I read, If all goes well… the J-XX 1st flight would be around 2011 – 2012. That is IF all goes well.
J-XX will be a delta-canard. !Rumours! flying around suggests it’ll have a very flat, blended profile (not too unlike the ‘Anjian’ UCAV concept), and at one time CAC/611 wanted to eliminate the tail altogether, but have now settled for a small all-moving tail.
Time well tell….
It’ll be interesting to see whether the Japanese decide to go all guns blazing with their 5th gen project.
suddenly the Eurocanards look alot less interesting.

LOL! Naughty you…

I hope China buys some.
Highly, highly unlikely IMHO.
Thank you QuadroFX

n00b question here… Are they the same as that LEVCONs thinggy?
WOW!….
She is a beauty! Not a YF-22/F-22 rip-off. Certainly looks a lot more like the YF-23. YES!!!!!!
