    RE: New belgian airline?

That’s great news, if it could work out. It’s still too late for me to fly with them this year, if they do set one up.
    Fly with proper Belgian airlines.

As I said on AFM, if that’s the case he deserved all he got, the main thing is that no innocent people were harmed.

I’m not sick of them Kabir, just the opposite in fact:)
Seeing the aircraft flying instead of parked up out of use brings back many happy memories, thank you.
I also love the other pics you’ve posted so keep them coming!!!

How about the ATR72, I know it’s a prop, but what sort of capacity does it have?

Hi Geforce – Yes, I am visiting Brugge, I will be based there, staying in the same hotel as last year (an old monastery from the 17th Century!!) I agree about Antwerp, it is a delightful place, had a day there last year and will probably go again this year and hopefully see more of it!! Also nearly got blown away by the wind at Oostende so I’m trying Blankenberge this year, also Oudenaarde, possibly Ardennes and almost definitely Brussels, it’s just a pity my favourite waffle shop in Brussels shut down, but there is an excellent one in Brugge so that is not too bad. Also I think Brugge is to be city of culture in 2002, so the new concert hall will be finished and the scaffolding will have disappeared!! It is such a shame about DAT, I would really loved them to be successful, they had all the good points of SABENA but with smaller aircraft!:-)

Some great pics have been posted since my last visit Kabir, a big THANK YOU, I would love to see more Belgian type pics in the magazines, but they only seemed to print them in relation to SABENA going bust, plus, as a photography buff, I love to see great landing and take off shots.

    RE: Pic Of The Day-03/01/02!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU TIMES A THOUSAND!!! The first SABENA aircraft I flew in was the Avro RJ, it was a great flight with an awesome steward, I knew when I boarded that flight that I had found the airline for me, and then they ceased to exist the following year. Just four flights with them, it should have been alot more!! I had planned to fly long haul to Boston with them to study the whales at Cape Cod when I leave university, but I’ll have to find someone else for long haul now. Please some A340s, I agree with Geforce, they were superb, elegant and they suited the SABENA blue livery perfectly.

Geforce – love your “smiley” icons!! Thanks for the imformative reply. I’m not sure yet whether I’ll be flying to Antwerp or Brussels, for the distance I need to travel by rail to reach my base (Brugge), there is not much difference, it will depend on price and flight times (morning out, afternoon back if possible). I know what you mean about no more A340s, very sad. I am disappointed not to fly with DAT, but everything with them seems so uncertain, all their flights into the UK were suspended over Christmas up to New Year, and then talks of a merger with Virgin Express. It will be great to fly on a Fokker 50 again, it’s nine years since I experienced one (in Iceland, awesome take off and approach into a fjord-side airport, I can really reccommend it!!) Their service at least sounds good, which is one of the main things!!

    RE: The 757

I’ve never been on the 757, apart from the 777 it’s the only Boeing aircraft I have no experience of (I flew on a 707 when I was very small, so I have little recollection of what it was like, except for a totally perfect touch down!)
The last example of a 757 I saw was an Icelandair aircraft, and I have to say I do not like Icelandair’s new livery.
I have seen the 757 give take off performances which would be more at home with a STOL airliner, they are certainly something to get on video when they do that.

    RE: Monarch Airlines

I didn’t think airlines were letting passengers onto the flightdeck since 11th September.
A friend of mine went to be cabin crew on Monarch, and they did the fun “fly on the wall” programme on ITV during the summer, I was disappointed when they pulled the plug on that, especially as I saw the film crew at MAN airport.
As for Airtours, my views on that airline are not fit to repeat in civilised company, I will say no more on them.

    RE: Biggest aircraft

I would LOVE to see the AN225. I saw the AN124 at Manchester in June, and for a fan of Russian-types (purely for photographic reasons, I’ve never been on one, and I think they are interesting) that was a great sight. If I’d have been in Paris a week later than I was, I would have seen the 225, but I just missed the airshow, and I was disappointed about that!!:-)
