I get sick of having trips to museums ruined by groups of badly behaved, ill mannered brats. Many museums I have been to have been infested with screaming, out of control kids, and now with many seemingly being aimed more and more at the little brats, the problem will only get worse.

Not everyone who visits a museum wants to be caught up among screaming kids.

    Not everyone likes kids.

I work in a museum and I know just how bad those parties of brats can be. I am thinking of suggesting adults only days at our museum to cater for those who do not like their leisure time to be spent in the company of riotous hordes.

Reading that someone had tried to kill Ian Huntley by slitting its throat. What upset me was that they didn’t succeed and the thing is still alive.

The pair of them should have been destroyed – painfully.

This is a prime argument for the re-introduction of the death penalty for ALL murderers, if they had both been destroyed they would not have been kept in luxury and safety at great cost to the taxpayer and they certainly would not be able to re offend.

Worst – Air New Zealand – ignorant, unpleasant, racially offensive cabin crew (openly anti British some of them), special meal requests ignored, foul inflight “food”. I was surprised I never saw air rage on their flights as the crews were so bad.

Icelandair – did not like some of their planes.

    Best

Sabena – superb crews, nice inflight sandwiches, simply the best!
VLM – same reasons as Sabena.
    Finnair.
BMI – nice aircraft and good crews, shame about the inflight sandwiches.

Those paler ones have different coloured seats, I have sometimes seen them (and travelled on them) on the Brussels-Brussels Airport service instead of the more usual types on that run. I have it on reliable information that the refurbished ones have a slightly higher speed than the red ones (I heard that from someone who drove Belgian trains, I assume he meant the refurbished ones were the repainted ones).

This is where I found out about the “altered” trains http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3112548&id=568717794

    Worst:

Charles de Gaulle terminal 2, the worst airport experience I have ever had! Hard to find anywhere to get some decent food landside, hard to see anything as the windows hadn’t been washed in decades, a horrid, dirty, depressing dump of an airport.

Newcastle – although there is some decent viewing from the departure lounge, the lack of anywhere decent to eat landside and the appalling lack of information on the screens brings this place down. When we first flew from there we did not know which gate our aircraft was to fly from because it never appeared on the screen they are so fond of telling you to keep checking, and, as a result, the aircraft was late leaving owing to the fact that people took ages to find the gate and board. And I am not impressed by the staff, who seemed to find it hilarious that the baggage carousel had broken down and there would be a delay in passengers getting their luggage.

Antwerp – dead and alive dump.

    Best:

Brussels – not an airport to better it in Europe! A good choice of places to eat – some quite reasonable for an airport, a good range of shops, excellent transport links ( four trains an hour into Brussels), efficient baggage reclaim, a nice clean airport.

Birmingham – good transport links, hotels within very easy reach of terminal, good viewing and enthusiasts shop.

London City – nice, clean terminal with some good eating. Excellent viewing from departure lounge and also from side of terminal. Fantastic for making videos.

    Dublin – excellent viewing.

Oostende – never flown from there but had several visits, the viewing is excellent from the cafe.

East Midlands – superb viewing from departures and a nice hotel close by.

I have always enjoyed taking photos of aircraft since I was given a camera for my 13th birthday and used it to take some photos when we flew up to Iceland.

I think I got into it more seriously when I got my first digital camera in 2004, I really made it crack on an afternoon at BHX when we were having a trip to BRU early in that year!

Now when we fly anywhere I like to get as many photos (and also videos) as I can, as flying on holiday is generally the only time I get to go to an airport. I have found MAN, BHX, LCY, NCL and EMA good for photography from the departure lounge, BRU can be a little difficult owing to the positions of the airbridges which often block out good views of the aircraft.

Airliners are my favourite subjects, any type of airliner and any livery, but I did like bagging the BA World Tails when I saw them.

I use a Kodak compact camera, which suits me well, it is easy to carry along with my video equipment and takes decent shots. I would love to give an SLR a try one day though.

There are some great photos in this topic, brings back some memories 😀

HP81 – you are so lucky to have that beauty in your photo collection. That is one plane I wish I could have photographed!

I thought that the grey one was an updated version of the red one?

Thanks PMN. Paninis sound good, we are flying out at dinnertime so won’t have much time for a big meal so that would be just perfect, and I don’t want to tackle BMI’s inflight sandwiches so airport food is a must 😀

As for how long we will have at the airport, we will probably get there at around 10 in the morning for our 12:25 flight, but maybe earlier if we manage to get an earlier bus from Leeds city centre.

If the weather is good we may get a trip out to the airport the day before we fly, as we are overnighting in Leeds to avoid having to rush on the day of our flight! That’s what we’ve done when we’ve flown from other airports such as MAN and LCY.

Awful news 🙁 I travel alot by train in Belgium (I travel on more Belgian trains in a year than British ones!) and have travelled on that line, and on both types of train which crashed. Belgium generally has a very good record with railway safety, and this news was a huge shock.
