Thanks everyone. I was very pleased with the selection I got, especially the Zoom and the BA Saab. The only way I managed to get the SkyEurope was behind the BA A319, so I will have to keep hoping to see that one again, as it was my first ever sighting of the carrier. My other airport photos will be posted in my flight reports, as they were photos I took in the departure lounge as we waited to get on our plane. I was extremely pleased with my Brussels spotting, as I bagged my first ever Etihad as it departed for Toronto (it stops in BRU on the way to YYZ from Abu Dhabi and flies in code with SNBA).

I wish I got the chance to spot more often because I just love getting photos of aircraft!

Thanks James. I had tried several times to get a decent shot of the ERJ, the post was in the way for ages, I couldn’t let that one go, as it was a first for me. The hybrid VLM is often at MAN, that’s the second time I’ve seen it there this year. Again, the post often gets in the way when you photograph them because they always seem to park in the same two spots – directly in front of the cafe and one just to the side. The World Tail ERJ was back the following day, and I tried to find it but couldn’t so I had to make do with the photo I posted here.

Thanks for the comments everyone. And thanks for providing the destination of the Saab, bmi-star. The light was very bad that day, so I was doing a bit of experimenting with the flash modes to try and get the best shots I could. The following day, things were much better.

My first Saab 340 in British Airways colours. This aircraft worked for Loganair. No idea where it was going.

VLM’s hybrid OO-VLL “Island of Jersey” flew over our train as we came into the airport station. I did not get chance to bag it straight away, as we had to check into the hotel, but I got it on its return from LCY.

You’re late!!!! SNBA were about an hour late with SN2173 that day. Glad it wasn’t repeated the following day!

Unusual Dutch-registered ERJ145. Believed to be working for bmi, as it was in one of their regular parking spots.

Emirates 777 with flight EK018 departs with my cousin and husband on board, flying off on honeymoon. A few people had gathered to see this one off.

I adore the CRJ and cannot resist photographing them. This was my first LH Regional in the new colours.

I’ll be in Belgium next week, so I’ll raise a glass of Belgian beer in Steve’s memory.

Jumping into the deep end of a swimming pool (or any end of the swimming pool) after a frightening experience when I was a kid learning to swim. We had a b*stard of an instructor one week when the regular one was ill, and her favourite trick was to make everyone who could not swim go and jump into the deep end of the pool. I was bloody petrified to say the least, and I will never forget what a horrible experience it was when I jumped in and the water covered me. I got partway down the length of the pool when the sadistic b*stard called me back and made me do the whole thing again. It is rubbish to say that doing something immediately after a bad experience stops you being scared to do it again because I have never jumped into a swimming pool since that day. I have nightmares about jumping into the deep end of a swimming pool and never coming back to the surface, all because of that b*stard of an instructor.

On the subject of Sunday roast, we still have a Sunday dinner at home, with different meat every week. Yesterday we had chicken, last week we had beef, before that lamb and before that pork – nice and crispy crackling, just as I like it. We always have Yorkshire pudding (well we would have to include that, living in Yorkshire 😀 ) and mashed and roasted potatoes, different veg every week – brocolli, cauliflower, cabbage or peas. No beans because I can’t eat them. Occasionally we have baked fruit with creme fraiche as a dessert, and I just love that! At Christmas we have guinea fowl, at New Year we have pheasant and sometimes we have possins as well.

If we had guests we would do them a full roast with meat and a dessert, and of course some wine, whatever sort would depend on what meat we had. We never drink beer with a roast dinner, or any dinner at all.

Here is the photo on my desktop (it is not my actual desktop because I am in college just now).

This is the one and only Sloeber, taken in the Sloeber Cafe in Oudenaarde on our recent holiday.
