Just after take off. The aircraft on the ground is a 747.

    Climbing through the cloud.

As we climed through 14,100 feet, we hit the turbulence, and the seat belt signs came on again. We experienced more heavy turbluence at 20,000 feet.

We left the Belgian coast at Oostende and flew over the Channel. The snack was handed out – cherry tart and water. I had orange juice to drink.

As the weather worsened, we saw our aircraft approach. It was our old friend OO-SSK – the only SNBA A319 I have been on, we had two flights on this one last year as well.

    OO-SSK.

At 15:09, the hated boarding call was made, and we were well back in the queue. As we boarded, we were greeted by two stewardesses, whilst one stood at the back of the aircraft.

Through the window, and the rain, I could see a new (for me) VLM aircraft – OO-VLZ.

    OO-VLZ – City of Rotterdam.

As we boarded, music was played, and the Airshow information screen was on. At that time, the outside air temperature was 18 degrees C, and the distance to Birmingham was 287 miles.

Once all the passengers had boarded, the youngest of the stewardesses raced along the cabin with the inflight magazine, Connect. At the speed she dashed past, which would rival Concorde, no one had a chance to actually get a magazine even though people wanted them! Not a very good first impression of this particular stewardess!

At 15:35 we were pushed back, and taxied to runway 25R. We had an excellent view of the impounded Antonov.

At 15:50, we finally took off after a CSA aircraft landed. We were told there would be turbulence, and looking at the state of the weather, we expected it anyway!

I’ve been using FS2002 since June 2004 – it was the first thing I bought for my computer, even before I got the computer. It is annoying when so many nice downloads are for FS2004, but I still manage to find nice things for 2002 and the VAs still offer compatible software. But the VAs dictate when I will change over – once they stop offering compatible software then I will have to upgrade to the newer version. Already Austrian have said they will no longer support FS2002 but the software they use at the moment is 2002 compatible so no worries just yet.

My Grandfather was in the RAF in WW2. Lossiemouth was one place where he was stationed.

In WW1 I had some relations but I don’t know much about them or what they did.

My Uncle did national service in the RAF in Cyprus.

I had an ancestor who was killed in an English Civil War battle.

Yes. I used to live in a haunted house, we had barking dogs which were dead, hands, noises in unoccupied rooms.

Last year on holiday in Brugge we invited a ghost into our hotel room…

We knew the hotel had a cat, and when I got up early one morning, I saw a tabby cat staring at me through the bathroom window. I assumed it was the hotel cat, and opened the window to have a look. The cat jumped in, and went into the bedroom. It was a friendly cat, but we had to go out so we caught it and put it back out through the window onto the flat roof. A few seconds later the cat was scratching the bedroom door to come back in. There was no way it could have got down from the roof, got inside and run up the stairs to the room in such a short space of time, and I don’t know how it would know which door to go to!

The cat followed us down to breakfast, which we were having early and so no one else was around. It walked round on the table licking out the empty butter cartons, and when we left the hotel, it was watching us go through the glass door. We never saw it again, which we thought was strange if it was the hotel cat.

When we returned to the same hotel this year, we saw a black and white cat and asked the owners if they had a new cat as well as the tabby. There had never been a tabby – no one had ever seen a tabby going into the hotel as a regular thing and we never saw our tabby friend again. The only tabby the hotel owner could think of was the dead brother of the hotel cat, and this tabby had never been in the hotel. So how the hell was this cat so familiar with the hotel when there had never been a tabby there, and how did it get from roof to bedroom door in a few seconds?

    Thanks for the comments.

I’ll take a closer look at the Flybe, I flew for Flybe Virtual and also had a 146 in Flybe colours.

I’ll get the photos for the return report uploaded as soon as I can.

Thanks for the runway ID! I fly from BHX often in FS and I cannot remember which runway is which when I am actually at BHX 😮
