    Re 50 and 51

I pray they haven’t got any cyclists there !

Yes we have, and they are a bloody nightmare. The law abiding ones are a tiny minority, the rest use the pavements like race tracks, speeding round corners and nearly colliding with pedestrians. They speed through red lights when pedestrians are crossing and give you a mouthful of abuse when they are the ones in the wrong. They think nothing of ramming babies in pushchairs if they want to get past on the pavements with their stupid bikes, so if I am hostile to cyclists it is no one’s fault but the cyclists, they are the ones who have bad attitudes, they are the ones breaking the law and as such I would have no sympathy whatsoever if I saw a pavement cyclist fall off their bike and split their head open, I really would not. They have the most disgusting, smug, arrogant holier-than-thou attitude because they are riding a stupid bike.

Which shop would that be? And more importantly, which beer? 😀

    Which shop? This one http://www.tremblingmadness.co.uk/

And which beers? Lots and lots of lovely Belgian brews, too many to name but more than you can get anywhere else in Yorkshire. The food here is good too, so we have a meal or a drink in the bar upstairs and then pop downstairs to buy our beers 😀

We stayed at West Ayton near Scarborough many years ago.West Ayton is a lovely little town ,Scarborough was a disaster area.
We drove up the coast and found Whitby ,and we have been staying there for the last 8 years,a wonderful place :).
It was always a dream to move up that way one day.

I know Ayton, and I agree that Scarborough is a disaster area! I don’t recommend moving to Whitby though, it’s ok while you are there on holiday but the locals do not welcome people moving from other areas, they are very similar in Scarborough. Extremely insular and unwelcoming.

I’m fortunate enough to live in the nicest place in the UK (In my opinion, of course) – York 🙂

York has the only shop in Yorkshire which sells decent beer. We make a special journey to buy our summer beers and also our Christmas beers because you can’t get my kind of beer in Scarborough.

had a nice curry in Scarborough the other week 😎

I don’t eat in the curry places, there is only one restaurant I go to in Scarborough and that is Lanterna. Lanterna is officially one of the best Italian restaurants in the world outside Italy and is in the Good Food Guide every year. The Indian stuff often contains beans and lentils and things which I can’t eat, I am safer with Italian 🙂

Scarborough – not a great place to live. When you tell people you live in Scarborough you get the same response – how they love the town because they had a holiday there years ago – they should try living here and spending every day in the damned place!

The shops are rubbish. Even though we have the usual chains like M&S the ones we have here are vastly inferior to ones in other parts of Yorkshire. You can’t get anything like the same range of foods in Scarborough that you can everywhere else.

The public transport is appalling. Most buses stop just after (and in some cases before) 6pm. Most buses do not run on Sundays or bank holidays, meaning that if you live just outside the centre you don’t get into town on those days.

Our HMV closed down this year, meaning that if you want to go looking for DVDs then you have to fork out for a train trip to York – £15 at least before you even think about buying anything in the shops.

It is an extremely unfriendly town, if you’re not from the favoured families, or didn’t go to the favoured secondary school, then you get treated like dirt. If you’ve moved here from another part of Yorkshire (like we did) then you are also classed as lower than dirt. It is a nasty, horrible, unfriendly, godforsaken dump of a place to live in. I wish I could afford to move away.

No, I don’t ride a cycle, and those who do really **** me off. Where I live, cyclists use the pavements as speedway tracks, speeding round corners and nearly hitting pedestrians (I would be angry if I saw a pedestrian injured by a pavement cyclist, if I saw a pavement cyclist come off and split their stupid head open I would not give a damn).

Cyclists also speed through red lights at pedestrian crossings, woe betide any poor pedestrian who is crossing when these morons on two wheels decide to go speeding through.

I have seen pavement cyclists ram pushchairs if the person pushing the pushchair didn’t get out of their way. What sort of scum rams a baby in a pushchair just because they want to get through on their stupid bike?

If I had my way, the idiots who ride their cycles on the pavement would no longer be riding the damned things, they would be wearing them up their backside with the saddle removed. That is what I think of pavement cyclists (and the vast majority of cyclists who think they are above the law).

I’ve drunk Belgian Christmas beer in June and drank Belgian Easter beer in September. I thought hot cross buns were available all the time now?
