Thanks to the magic of the Wayback Machine, you can get to the pages Brian listed:-
And particularly this one, which lists the 6A/944 but sadly has no more information than you’ve already discovered.

I can’t find anything on the NAWCC website either. It’s possible it’s a more common movement rebadged by Smiths, but at this point you’d be guessing. Is there nothing in the APs for the Maggie?
That video is working for me, Stu

Firefox 37.0.2 and Flash 17.0.0.169. If you’re using Chrome it has Flash built in, I think – not sure how that differs. Have you tried updating Flash and using Internet Exploder?

Nishikoreng Replica
Well, originally they were going to call it the Happisburgh, but no-one at the Air Ministry could pronounce it properly 😀
On that day, 263 Sqn carried out 5 operations from B.105 near Lingen, Germany.
During the third operation of the day:-
“The next target was barges at Harderwijk where 14+ were attacked and 8 damaged. A direct hit was also scored with R/P on a shed on the south end of the harbour and a bright red flash was the result. 8 aircraft took part in this operation and during the attack F/Lt. N.P.C. Woodward’s aircraft was seen to crash in to the sea approx. half a mile from the harbour. It is believed he was hit by flak which was intense over the area. Although he has been reported as only missing there is very little hope of his having escaped and the Squadron has lost one of its most popular and skilful pilots.”
“Crew: S/L M.T. Rumbold, F/Ls. N.P.C. Woodward, G.E. Cassie, P/Os. J.W Shellard, D.E. Morgan, W/Os. H. Barrie, C.A. Bury, P.J. McNinley

Without seeing the item in question – possibly because it *is* a mall?

Castle Mall is very well-known in them parts.
The lovely Mrs. Rat makes a point of buying her electricals from John Lewis – excellent service, and no quibbles if something goes wrong.
Oh, and free cake every now and then 🙂
Wow, that’s looking sweet! As it happens, the one I did for my friend has modern WR humbuckers (‘proper’ ones, not the Fender reissue things). To avoid picspamming, I’ll include a link if you want to see some photos as this isn’t sufficiently rage-inducing.
Back OT – probably the bonkers colleague who thinks that if he argues for long enough in a confusing enough manner I’ll give in. There are times you don’t know whether to laugh or throw things.
Meddle – have you tried Z-poxy finishing resin? It’s often used as a grain filler – or cyanoacrylate, if you can stand the horrendous pong! Failing that, if you can find a friendly car body shop they may do a few coats of 2k clear for you for some beer money.
I did one in Tru-Oil recently for a friend who wanted a more ‘organic’ look than the slick plastic feel of poly, but that was over ‘raw’ wood rather than paint. Simple wipe-on application over the course of a week just in the living room, and a lovely smell of Linseed. After that experience, I won’t be fiddling around with Nitro again!
Oh, and – pix, please? :eagerness:
Just to echo the others above – welcome back, Mr. Dorst! This is my favourite thread on the forum and it’s great to see it revived.
According to this link, Lancaster W4864 of 460 Sqn, crashed on a night navigation exercise.
Alternatively, ‘Ho-Hum’ could have been the aircraft of one of his friends from home or training. If he kept it I would assume it had some personal significance for him, but that’s pure speculation on my part.
The American Air Musem site has 35419819 SSgt Walter J Yokum, 862 Sqn, 493 Bomb Group, 8th Airforce, based at Debach, near Ipswich.
Ah, here we go: ‘The 493d BG used B-24’s until they were replaced with B-17’s in September 1944‘
It’s not the 3 squadrons in question, but I can provide some ‘colour’ from the escorting 263 Squadron

Once again from the ‘Unaccounted Airmen’ research by the late Henk Welting over on rafcommands.com
This thread for 16 Feb 44 has your man as Died on Active Service, with the death registered in the Stratford district (i.e. Stratford-on-Avon) – so possibly some accident or illness while on leave or otherwise away from his squadron.
You can order his death cert from the GRO using the information in this link here, but it may or may not contain any further information.
Hopefully this is of some help.
