    Ray Hanna

I first saw Ray perform at West Malling in 1986 i think it was.

He was dogfighting with Mark in the P40. Ray naturally was in the Spit.

You could tell they were two gifted, talented pilots, and I will remember that aerial sequence of the two dancing fighters as long as I breathe.

Like all fighter pilots I suspect Ray was still a kid at heart, and that kid endulged himself, (who wouldnt???) and us, to some fantastic sights over the years – who can forget Winston Bridge?

The aviation community, Duxford, and the Airshow fraternity, both participants and spectators together, are tonight a poorer place.

    Goodbye Maestro Ray.

Did a hangar tour there July 03 and it was their intention to have her fly again even then, CAA permitting. Sadly I think Mark Hannas death hit the plans, but lets hope that they come to fruition.

The same situation exists with the Sukhoi. They’ll need CAA type approval for that as well. Its on the plan, but to the CAA its an unknown quantity. AFAIK she hasnt flown yet with HAA.

One of the best flybys i’ve ever seen was by a Bucc, barrel rolled at 100 ft along the centreline of the runway at Teesside many years ago…. sigh

Pls bear in mind these photos are 2 years old.

when the news broke about the registration, I emailed Glenn with a request for more info. Sadly to date I aint had a reply.

There has been more than a bit of scepticism regarding Glenns ‘collection’, but the last time we exchanged words, he did say he was working on something…. read into that what you will.

The Taranto Raid was split with approx 2/3rds of each wave lugging Torpedos, the remainder were carrying 250lb bombs.

you can read the first hand account of the raid:

Attackon Taranto, by Lt Cdr JWG Wellham DSC
ISBN 0-8117-1726-7 – stackpole books (USA).

    Lanc cockpit

Ken certainly didnt have, or have room for anything like the size of a Lanc cockpit never mind a fuse at his location when I was up there last summer.

Although I cant be 100% certain, i dont think Kens health would allow such an undertaking even though i dare say he would love to try it.

I would be interested in knowing the answer tho, as he is always on the lookout for a swop / trade. Who knows!
