about the R-77’s i’ve heard that the Peruvian air force, thanks to the cuts, didnt even had rags to whipe the dust off the aircraft, can you picture giving maintenance to any kind’a hardware? let alone the R-77’s? remember that any equipment is only as good as its maintenance.
i think their government is gambling “again” that there will be no more wars and is falling “again” into the same situation of abandon, as pre-1995 when the Cenepa conflict erupted (almost no air force)
i might be mistaken of course.
but the point is few of their migs are R-77 capable; now, are they flying??? thats another question. no one knows and they dont seem too keen to talk about.

all right, now things are clear, i thaught PERO was aplicable to both systems.
so now, what in your opinion will be the best radar for the Mig-29?, there are so many, i’ve read something about the ZHUK MSF, capable of detecting a target fighter size at 245kms, but i dont know if these numbers will be aplicable to the Mig-29 or if they will be real at all?
what would you guys choose for the mig-29?

What about the “PERO” antenna the russians were working so hard not too long ago? does this also “lacks funding”?
they said it could be easily adapted to the phazotron and NIIP radars, (diferent sizes of course) and it would improve them quite a bit.
does anyone knows about?

also the first batch of Mig-29, was bought from Bielarus (about 21 minus 2 lost on freak accidents), these examples are 9-13.
to get around the supply of parts, they negociated the adquisition of 3 bright new Mig-29SE from mikoyan, who in exchange agreed to assist with the maintenance of the rest of the fleet, also, worth to mention that some equipment in the SE Migs are the downgraded export version, such as Gardeniya and so on.
it seems that the Peruvians soon as they had them, did put them to fight the M2K (FAP also) and appears that they (the Migs) did in fact “kick’d some serious butt”:eek:
