Ukraine is not in EU.
Czech Republic’s firm signed the contract before it that country entered the EU(it still hasn’t …a few days to go)
Interesting article, especially the last bit.
GOod to see countries such as Czech Republic got their military industry going:)
By the way, are there any photos of these radar systems?
The “invisible” F-117 shot down over Serbia in 1999 most likely went to Russia .
Slovenia is a small country, but their defense industry is certainly not “small”. After all, they inherited a lot of Yugoslavia’s defense factories .
Why not?
Serbia & Montenegro has a bigger population than both Greece & Israel and is 4 times larger than Israel and about equal to Greece(with its islands).
The economy has detiorated in the last decade or so…but S&M has huge potentials to become one of the richest countries in Europe.
Lets not forget – while Greece and Israel have barely developed their own aircraft industry, and have to buy their A/C from US, Serbia (Yugoslavia) in the late 80’s was planning development of its own 4th/5th generation fighter jets.
That capability is still there.
Considering the whole Balkans region where Serbia is located, the country should in the future maintain an airforce the size that of Israel or Greece.

Hardly;)
by the way, UTVA (producer of this aircraft) is calling it a “medium-size” UAV. Who knows what else they’re working on;)

I hear there’s a plan to upgrade the G-4’s to “M2” (G-4M2) level.
There already is a working prototype of G-4M(reported about in AFM), but they’re abandoning that project and going to the next step.
I think we need some basic trainers first , some Pilatus or Zlin aircraft to give our pilots some valuable flying time.
Or maybe that new, local Lasta 3 project.
If anyone wishes to see what kind of ‘military’ targets NATO had more luck destroying in Serbia & Montenegro…take a look here:
Its much easier to hit a hospital, a school or a passenger train, even a foreign embassy…than a camoflaged Serbian tank
Its stupid to sell them to some African countries…its far better to sell these to collectors and military enthusiasts in US, Western Europe, etc – where there’s already a large number of G-2, G-4s , etc flying.
Don’t forget the one that crashed in Italy..
its a little ironic…NATO(US and its satelites, really) lost more choppers than Serbia did tanks.
What happend to all those Apaches, that were so heavily hyped in all media , the ones that were supposed to “take out Serb armour”? Did they even see any action in Kosovo?
Heheheh…
Can an IK-3 be seen in the Belgrade Aeronautical Museum?
Actually, guys, here’s a hard fact for you – both the Germans and the French acknowledged losing a few Mirage and Tornado aircraft during the war.
