Its interesting to me…seems like Serbia came out of the 1999 war with NATO a little stronger, considering all the new gadgets that have been developed since then:)
Great to see our military industry getting back on its feet!!
By the way, here’s the recently-upgraded Zastava-Arms website – they got some nice photos of their products there.
This Arnaments Fair held in Belgrade is the first, and included only Serbian defense companies this year(about ~30 of them) and next year, it will be an international event.
“Very Few” = 13 tanks destroyed during 78 days of NATO bombing.
What do you guys think Serbia is? Some kind of terrorist nation?
What do we need SCUDS, filled with chem/bio weapons for?
Half of those Italian citiies have large Serb populations too.
Two to four squadrons of fighter jets, plus an integrated PVO(SAM) system is all we need.
And who says US/NATO would attack us again?
As far I see, situation has been changed. Now, Serbian forces are preparing to go to Afghanistan, to weed out mujahadeen and other Taliban scum.
I doubt the pay of the Dutch pilot would be more than 130-150% of the Greek pilots.
“Zastava Arms” begins production of automatic rifle M21 in 2004, NATO standard
Kragujevac’s factory “Zastava Arms” (http://www.zastava-arms.co.yu) declared that it intends to, in the year 2004, begin producing the automatic rifle M21, which has a NATO standard caliber. This automatic rifle received the highest marks, from experts, during probing.
“Zastava Arms” is intensively working on preparations for the production of a machine-gun with a 12.7-mm caliber, a 5.6-mm “harness rifle” and modernization of a version of the long-range rifle, also known as “crna strela” (black arrow).
Kragujevac’s arms factory plans to, in the year 2004, produce and sell carbines, pistols, and automatic rifles, 30 000 of each. The production of 30 000 carbines was achieved, and the production of 30 000 pistols and automatic rifles is achievable and the factory is working on it. Seventy percent of the total income will be achieved with the sale of the hunting-sport arms and self-defence arms, while the rest of the income will be earned with the sale of arms and army equipment. From exports alone, an income of 12.3 million euros is planned for 2004. The additional organizing of “Zastava’s” arms factory will begin in January.

No one needs to arm the Serbs.
We’re perfectly capable of arming ourselves.
I thought Albania was still isolated, poor and paranoid.
Hence, the 21 people died last week on a rubber boat, trying to flee the country.
Well, the relations between Serbia and US are getting better.
Last month(last year) , USS Gonzales sailed in the port of Bar.
First by a U.S. Navy ship since the establishment of the Union of Serbia and Montenegro in February this year.
Heh…the Americans were amazed at the way their ship was guarded. Nobody ever provided that much security for them, they said.

The relations between old allies, US & Serbia, are still far from what they were in 1918, when Woodrow Wilson, then president of United States, gave the order that the Serbian flag be raised over the White House and all public buildings in Washington.
Well, listening to some “professional” opinions on our arms industry, like Miroslav Lazanski’s articles in “Politika” newspaper, you dont get the idea that the situation is THAT dismal.
His last article on the subject posed this question – Can Serbia & Montenegro make it back into the Top 10 list of World’s largest arms exporters?
I wish…maybe in a decade or two.
In the context of this “Modern Military/Aviation” forum, what exactly do you mean?
That, instead of focusing on our own arms industry, we should be buying European & American weapons?
And what is all this about “civilized” world…I don’t get what you meant to say.
Say hello to Nora (B-52?!?)

I dont think Serbia & Montenegro should invest a lot of money into the Air Force and Air Defence, at least not until ~2010, when the economy will be stronger.
Right now, we need to concentrate more on this….

“Zastava Arms” to become biggest producer of hunting carbines in the world in 2004
“Zastava Arms” (http://www.zastava-arms.co.yu) will become the biggest producer of hunting carbines in the world in 2004. Thanks to the agreed export of arms to America and other markets, in structure of which 80% are carbines, 30,000 hunting carbines will be produced in “Zastava” in 2004. All the other world-known producers of arms will have 30 – 50% smaller productions in 2004.
The negotiations with Italian company “Beretta” (http://www.beretta.com), which is interested in cooperation and joint production of hunting and sport weapons, will be continued at the end of January 2004. “Beretta” is also interested in investment in “Zastava Arms”. Besides “Beretta”, some Israeli companies show interest in investment in this Arms Factory of “Zastava”.

….that is, getting OUR OWN military industry back on its feet.
And when the time comes to buy something…I hope its either Gripen, Rafale or some Russian model.
JAT’s new ATR has arrived:)
Photos taken in Austria

One, TV crews didn’t get everywhere. A lot of Macedonians reported incidents in their own country, when something crashed and the Macedonian/US military imidiatelly cordoned off the area and didn’t allow reporters to check out what happend.
In Tuzla(Bosnia), where there is a major airfield, there was a recorded incident of an F-117 “Stealth” crash-landing.
By the way, some ( patriotic?) elements in French military truly helped my country. We recieved entire lists of NATO flight paths and targets, so most of these sites were evacuated before the bombs fell, eliminating the possibility of a terrible loss of life.
French-Serbian friendship is still strong:)
One…officially;)
(the one that was shown on TV, obviously NATO had to confirm that loss)
