IDRW says that the first production variant of Rudra is ready for delivery. Not sure how accurate is that.

    Dear HAL newsletters confirm that

Possibly the most in-depth article on the Kargil conflict, its beginnings and the IAF’s involvement and the lessons learnt from it, that I’ve come across.

Written by Benjamin Lambeth, it makes for a very interesting and absorbing read. A must read for those interested in how the shape of future warfare along India’s northern borders with China and Pakistan may shape up to be.

Carnegie Endowment – Airpower at 18,000 ft- IAF in Kargil War

This particular para may illustrate just why the IA is insistent on the helicopter gunships being completely under their control as opposed to the current situation where they are manned by IAF pilots and under IAF control while being tasked to support IA objectives.

the IA has now ordered ALH Rudra gunships and 114 LCH gunships (of which the IAF will get a separate 64) and has plans to have an aviation brigade with 2 heli gunship squadrons plus 2 squadrons of tactical lift/recon helos in each of its Strike corps

than air chief Tipnis is against employing heli for close support as he factor in the hand held SAM but army insists it which cost lost of heli in quick succession. he was suggesting to use fighter plane later when they used it they found the weakness of mountains bombing due step sleep and they worked quickly.

it is more about adopting the situation know own weakness.
now they just fine tune the that warfare to with traning.

Thing could fall either way if we have to guess it.

That still does not answer the overwhelming majority of engines failing eve before their modest overhaul times (for vanilla RD-33 that is). That, is something I have not ever encountered in the operations of MiG-29s in USSR/RuAF, and it operates quite a bit more than the IAF does.
Or other “significant” operators for that matter.

there is other major factor which playing it part in engine life

IMHO weather is one of the largest factor. you can find every kind of weather in India from high & dry to hot & humid or dusty weather of north india

I’ve not commented on the relative performances, just that I think the offer to IN is daft, considering P8i induction.

??? which one you suggest for India

A new entry from Japan for Indian navy.
