Well…considering that it is the principal BVRAAM of the worlds best airforce and also many others and the latest version having 50% more range…i would think Aim120 is really good…dont you?

About the Blk52 F16…the APG68 radar is a good thing to have. What radar did they put on the JF17?

    A Chinese made radar! ๐Ÿ˜€

Which means we’ll actually see it in 2015 or so. Look how long it took for the first J-10 images to surface.

J-10 takes many yrs to develop means China next generation will also be equally longtime to develop…???

PRC 10yrs ago is not even 10th largest economy,so 10yrs later it shall also be in the same position? Who is the 4th largest economy now?

Do u know what is called ” Progress” ?

Nope i didnt forget…whats so special about SD10?Also consider radar,ECM etc. when you compare those planes.

What so special abt F-16C/D Block 52 fitted with ABVRAAM?

IMO, the most straightforward and reliable way to track Chinese J-XXโ€™s progress is to track the development of Chinese turbofan engines designed to power the fighter.

Because AVICIโ€™s open source has already declared they wonโ€™t compromise their next generation fighter or J-xx by using any legacy 3rd gen powerplant but 4th gen engine like WS-15. And I believe the development of such a powerplant is the hardest part for AVICI to conquer.

Remember the J-11B prototype is also served as high altitude testbed for WS-10A turbofan? My guess is this time around, AVICI will play the same by utilizing the twin engine powered J-XX prototype as the high altitude testbed for WS-15.

With the confirmed designation of WS-15, AVICI has probably finalized the design of the T/W 10 grade core engine and moved into next stage of model development. If so, the rules of 5 years model, 5 years certification applies, then the WS-15 could be certificated in 2015 or 2016 if everything goes smoothly. Of course high altitude test should be carried out well before the WS-15 certification, which means the J-XX 4th fighter prototype could probably take the maiden flight before 2015!

    I predict by 2010,we will see it 1st prototype of J-XX flying… ๐Ÿ˜€

In fact,WS-15 development already started last year.

    From IDEAS 2006 – Pakistan:

JF-17 Retractable In flight refueling probe:

??? How come never show in Zuhai but show in IDEAS 2006? Btw,I seems to sense that Chinese side has tone down on the promotion of FC-1…
Engines will be the most problematic for JF-17.

To be exact, the news is appeared on 13 Sept, 2005 ( 1.htm)

    http://www.hyfcc.com/xinwen/gongzuo/25/

But donโ€™t know how, the news only released to the public recently, maybe the domain only be accessible to public recently.

No matter how the article does confirm the โ€œNew type of Turbofan engineโ€ (WS-15 ) will power future Chinese 4th Generation fighter jet ( Western standard).

Any speculation on the expected thrust of WS-15? I believe will be at least more than 1,5000kg of thrust! ๐Ÿ˜€

i see what you mean. used Tu-22m3 is not only good option but only option. i think it is good enough to defend Nansha from Vietnamese and Philipinio

Why do PRC need to defend from Vietnam and Philippines? I bet there wouldn’t even dare to get near PLAN..

I’m surprised Iran never buy PRC JH-7A strike aircraft to increase their strike capabilites since they got plenty of c-802. Btw,anybody know their F-4 and Su-24 capable of operating the C-802?

this release of info was meant to undermine the above visit of the commander of us navy’s pacific fleet to china by some who want a more aggressive posture against china.

How aggresssive they want? Another 1921 Washington treaty? ๐Ÿ˜€

The Chinese sub purposely surface within 5 miles of the carrier fleet! More or less it is trying to prove a point to US fleet.
