They may not want to wait for development of an indigenous engine to be completed. Just think where the LCA would be if India was waiting for the Kaveri-a hangar at Bangalore.
It says the engines will supply in a period of six yrs.(The chinese will develop their own engines by the seven yrs?) I bet a serie production will start in China but will not produce indigenous engine.But things a hard to say as time goes by,just like Su-27 which say it will produce 200 locally but in the end,it stop at 95.
Russian company to supply aircraft engines to China
The Moscow-based Salyut engineering production enterprise has signed a 900m-dollar contract on delivering about 250 AL-31FN aircraft engines to China in the next six years. The engines will be mounted on the Chinese J-10 fighter.
I think this means the Chinese has lost hope on their indigenous engine but at the same time it means J-10 is abt to be officially induct!
China is involved in the Boeing 7E7 program as well. China is building composite parts for the 7E7 airliner. But Airbus is going further and is inviting China to participate in the design of the A350.
I think Airbus keep on winning contract with China is a more on political basis than merit wise! Euro is less critical of China than US and I think US suffer as a result.(Boeing will be barking at George.W.Bush) 😀

It is called surprise. The defences were looking for something quite different in a completely different place… ie up for high trajectory ballistic rockets. I would also suggest that the Americans tend to rely on their airforce for real protection, and have become a bit soft in that regard. The Serbs on the other hand would be looking for anything from anywhere. Generally positions out in the middle of nowhere would be very lucky to be on the path of an incoming weapon and the path of that weapon would be designed to reduce its visibility… it wouldn’t fly through towns or cities unless it couldn’t help it. The air defences near the actual missiles target would have the best chance of bringing it down as long as they were forwarned and had the right gear.
There are still no guarantees.
One conclusion,LACM is hard to counter and US is expert in these area(Tomahawk)but intercepting it is another issue!

Not very true! Is not on the submarine issue but the ICBM. JL-2 is derived from DF-31 which is a mobile launch ICBM with Russia the other country possess.Their version I think is Torpol-M(Longer range).UK also possess SSBN but their ICBM is supplied by the US(Trident).France also possess SSBN but uses a shorter range ICBM compare to JL-2.I heard France got plan for upgrading their Sub ICBM from 5000km to 7000km.
Why need to kamikaze when u can eject? I’m thinking of a ramjet cruise missile guide by both human and seeker.When decoy ,jamming and chaff r deployed by enemy to confuse the missile in seeker mode and succeed,the human inside the missile switch to pilot manual mode to take over piloting and guide the missiles itself into the target,eject seconds before impact.But the result for the piulot will be either become POW or kill.
