With T-50s and new MiG-35 russia will remain ahead, so congratulations to Sukhoi, the Su-33 is old and the J-15 a mere copy based upon technology transfered from Ukraine

It is naive of you to think they will copy the old radar of Su-33. Definitely a up to date and much powerful radar is put in with more modern features..

if they are looking for new aircraft, with the budget they propably have available, i think secondhand F-16A/B (MLU), Mirage 2000 and gripen are the best way to go.
but if they prefer russian aircraft, there’s really not much choice rather then the MIG-29/35, as the SU-35 i think is a bit overkill for such a small nation.

I don’t think they can afford Gripen(Yes.. but not enough to form a squadron, don’t believe. Ask Thai Air Force) with AMERICAN ENGINE???

F-16A/B?? Are you joking? Who bomb Serbia in Kosovo War? πŸ˜€

    D.J.,

If you can afford it, just upgrade/replenish your MiG-29 fleet with new MiG-29s or even updated older airframes from the Russian stockpile. Far more potent and versatile than any beat up F-7 or JF-17. The Russians have long been Serb “supporters” in the int. arena if memory serves me right so thats a plus.

Upgrade old airframe is a bad idea. Pilot still need training time/hand on time on the real plane, sharpen their skill. Old airframe can only take that much of airtime. Overstress it will shorten their life even faster and accident will bound to happen.

Old airframe, no matter how they patch will still be old airframe. Crack will appear sooner or later. Aircraft are not like tank. Old tank breaks down and stop running. Airplane breaks down what happen? Drop from sky and that’s it.

Plus, Mig-29 running on 2 engines are high maintenance. I would rather Serbia spend the available money on new airframe which is low in maintenance.

Indian navy plane crashes at show, pilots killed

NEW DELHI: An Indian naval plane taking part in an aerobatics display in the city of Hyderabad crashed into a residential area on Wednesday, killing both pilots and destroying a house, the navy said.

The NDTV channel showed the plane flying in a formation at the air show in the southern city shortly before it crashed into densely populated land adjacent to the show ground.

A three-storey house was destroyed and other buildings were damaged.

β€œIn the final phase, the aircraft appears to have gone out of control. They crashed into a building and the pilots have died,” navy chief Admiral Nirmal Verma told reporters.

He was unable to say if there were further casualties on the ground.

The accident occurred on the opening day of the India Aviation 2010 show, a five-day civil aviation exhibition.

The plane, a two-seater Kiran MK-II built by state-run Hindustan Aeronautics, was part of a four-plane formation. afp

French JF-17 Deal Could Anger India
    ….aw-Hill Companies.

Maybe China side export a much inferior PL-12(Aka SD-10)for export which PAF may have rejected. I don’t think is the radar problem but rather the missile problem. Which is why PAF are seeking western radar and BVRAAM.

And if SD-10 has really intergrated on JF-17, it shall have been publicised plus there seems to have no news of PAF purchase of SD-10…

Perhaps you deliberately chose to ignore my first response, or trying to bait?

Eurofighters were meant to be multirole but initially delivered without A2G capability. The point is they were inducted as soon as possible to get Sqaudrons operational in certain roles.

If we go by your logic then RAF should not have inducted Eurofighter?

As I have said, SD-10 can be added later. You cannot do that on a F-7.

PAF are getting a plan much superior in capability. Inducting it quickly with perhaps limited A2A capability.

Dude.. Even the example you give is wrong. Eurofighter is initially inducted with ability to fire AIM-120. BVR ability is present before it can be inducted.

The radar is make by the Chinese, SD-10 is also make by the Chinese. How hard can it be to be intergrated? Plus, its not something new. This was carried out before on J-8II and J-10 before moving on to JF-17. I know the radar is different but I don’t think its a serious problem that can drag so long.

    Let me get these right.

We use these Thunders to repalce old A-5s, They are much more capable and new frames and can probably be equipped with SD-10 later, but if we go by your logic we should not have inducted them?

Yes… Replace A-5 is secondary.. JF-17 main purpose is dogfight and BVRAAM.

Without SD-10, might as well get more J-7G,right?

JF-17 inducted but so far no news of SD-10 deploy by PAF.

What happen? Is it being not clear for export by the Chinese side???

There is no way these first 50 JF-17 attempt to use other BVRAAM than SD-10. If no BVRAAM,these JF-17 defeat the purpose of owning them in the first place.

The site you linked says this:

The grammar indicates that info is pre-2006 while the picture is from IDEAS 2008.

The idea about the image being manipulated is kind of paranoid. Why don’t you confirm the manipulation before you accuse somebody of it.

    Regards,
    Ashis

Pre 2006 doesn’t mean its not valid. The fact, it still stay there means the spec still valid. If its not valid, U go e-mail the webmaster and ask them clarify. That is an official Pakistan aeronautical complex webpage, not some tom dick , harry website u post.
