Overreaction. It’s a weight optimisation tender before commencing production which probably means that everything is ok. The tender itself states service entry within an year.

its a common phenomenon even with the biggest OEMs world wide. Project Ozark on the 747-8 intends to reduce the weight of the 747-8 even further, as well as improve fuel burn through reduced drag at the wing-body fairing..so structural and even aerodynamic improvements are part and parcel of development programs, sometimes even after entering production.

Shiv Aroor is the type of journo who would raise a hue and cry for the Typhoon’s planned LERX addition which supposedly improves STR..he’ll claim that it means the original Typhoon’s STR is low and come up with a sensational article on that. That is his journalistic instinct- “breaking news!!”

MoD all set to give its approval to acquire Mine Countermeasures Vessels..

    article link

In a major boost to indigenous defence industry, Ministry of Defence is all set to give its nod to Indian Navy to acquire Mine Counter Measure Vessels (MCMV), which are extremely critical for the safe passage of Indian warships before they leave the dockyards to go in deep seas.

Sources in the Navy said the issue was discussed prominently in the recently held commander’s conclave and new Defence Minister Arun Jaitley was briefed about the urgent need of these high-end vessels for the safety of the warships.

Navy has projected the requirement of 24 MCMVs and the project is awaiting government’s approval for some time now.

Public Sector Undertaking Goa Shipyard Limited has been nominated for this prestigious project, which will catapult Indian ship building capacity into a very different league.

    ..

Contract negotiations for the project with the foreign vendor have been completed two years back. On grant of ‘go ahead’ by MoD, the first two vessels of this kind will be built in foreign shipyard, which in turn will provide the required know how to GSL to make these boats indigenously.

I would argue the IAF thread has been clogged up with fantasies for quite a few years…..

unlike the ‘J-10 that will be called FC-20 in PAF service’ fantasy that kept so many PAF threads going for so long..and continues to keep so many Pakistani forums occupied.

No need to start the insults as you usually do, usually the first sign that someone is losing an argument.

You stated funds will be provided for this deal, for 126 aircraft, it is looking less likley that andeal will now be concluded, despite several posters here a few months ago claiming “new government will approve”, “waiting till after the elections”, “waiting for next fiscal year”, “waiting for full ToT agreement”.

All of the above were stated, so I am going to state the obvious. There is no money left in the pot. The last PM of India stated this and now even Indian officials are stating this.

You of course are absolutely free to continue to indulge yourself……..

lol..no money left in the pot? You’re confusing yourself- this is the IAF thread, not the PAF thread.

$20 billion would be a hiccup in American defense spending. Funny how a billion people economy is fretting over an inflation downturn when they created the downturn. The deal is worth the $20 billion, but their tradition of bribes is going to make it $50 billion if they don’t get the economy under control.

pardon me, but what the heck does this even mean??

No one is giddy and no one needs to worry about others economy. When you make sweeping statements that are later contridicted by fact and get caught out that is my point. You have gone from “founds will be procured” to seeing that the major stumbling block to negotiations has been lack of funds (as I pointed out weeks and months ago).

As you lose another argument though please feel free to try and change the subject as per usual

Funds will be provided as per the original estimate. as much as you hope that it wont. Lose another argument? lol ! How old are you?
