    The HJT-36 Sitara Reg. # S3466, preparing for AI-11.

This was the same one that slid off the runway at AI-07.

Good to see HAL has not shelved the project after the crash, it has a quick initial phase but has not been in the news for ages..

This may be down to me not being a good historian or a good engineer but I did not think the above is a fighter jet…

it veered off the runway. That is hardly a crash. The airframe was put back into service. There have been fighters with ACTUAL crashes that didn’t get derailed.

Anyway, its interesting that you should point out that particular accident only. Kind of shows what your mindset really is where nothing India does is good enough and has to be criticised just for the heck of it.

BTW, its a jet even if not a fighter- I’d like you to show me one Embraer fighter jet. Oh and the AMX is not just Embraer, it was only 30% or so of Embraer workshare.

I think it is a model and not the real plane. LCA is going to fly at the show.

its the same mockup that was paraded at Republic Day.

Well I claim neither to be a expert engineer a good engineer or a expert historian or historian.

Your very welcome to be a better engineer and as such i would be grateful if you could list all the great military fighter jets HAL has sucessfully designed and built…

Maybe you could list all the great military fighter jets that Embraer has successfully designed and built ?

remember the Tucano isn’t a “jet”.

The Roundel is not the same Its Red for Italian AF and Saffron for IAF. The Green is also different.

you’re right but from a distance they look the same.

Two typhoons of Aeronautica Militare has landed at Yelahanka for Aero India .

in this pic of the Typhoons next to the Su-30MKI, just add an IAF fin flash
and the Italian Typhoons could well masquerade as IAF Typhoons, after all roundel is the same..:)

maybe that could be a possible tarmac lineup in the future ? :diablo:

Ria Novosti have a photo of the Mig 29 on their website, what a beautiful plane!

Says the IAF will have the Zhuk M radar upgrade, sadly no mention of upgrading to the Mig 35 OLS system, missed opertunity me things.

if you’re referring to this Ria Novosti article on the upgraded MiG-29, you didn’t notice that its a Su-30MKI not a MiG-29UPG

IN to go ahead with 4 more P-8I Neptunes that it had on option

BANGALORE: The Indian Navy has decided to exercise its option for an additional four Boeing P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft
in a bid to boost its maritime patrol capabilities as well as counter piracy threats and the growing Chinese influence in the Indian Ocean.

In a deal expected to range between $1 billion to $1.5 billion, the new aircraft will be in addition to the eight the Navy had ordered in January 2009, for about $2.1 billion. The new contract price is also expected to include the cost of aero-structures and avionics.

“The Indian Navy has received the necessary government approvals and has decided to go ahead with the contractual processes to acquire four additional P-8I aircraft under the options clause,” Commander PVS Satish, public relations officer for the Indian Navy told The Economic Times.

    …..

Separately, Boeing has also submitted a reply to the Navy’s Request for Information for six medium-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft as well.

    ….

The current RFI also specifies the aircraft should be able to carry out electronic intelligence gathering and counter-measures, besides maritime patrol and search and rescue within an operational envelope of 350 nautical miles or almost 650 kilometres, as well as a patrol endurance of at least three and a half hours.

There are additional requirements that the aircraft be capable of carrying at least two anti-ship missiles and a jamming pod. As with the P-8I, the navy has specified in the RFI that certain pieces of equipment must be indigenous, like Identification Friend or Foe Interrogator with Secure Mode, MSS Terminal, BFE, Datalink and Speech Secrecy Equipment and vendors must indicate their commitment to integrate this equipment into the aircraft.
