Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Elbit sign licence production agreement for HMDS and HMS. Perhaps could also be extended for the DASH (for Tejas fleet) and Targo HMDS (for the Rafale fleet) and possible retrofits for most IAF fighters. Right now it is for HMS for the Light Combat Helicopter and Rudra gunship fleet.

India’s BEL signs licence production deal with Elbit for HMDS and HMS

India’s Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) announced on 5 March the signing of an agreement with Israeli company Elbit Systems to produce helmet-mounted display systems and helmet-pointing systems for the Indian market.

BEL said through the new technical collaboration agreement (TCA) it will licence-manufacture and integrate the Elbit-designed systems onto rotary-wing platforms in operation with the Indian armed forces. The company added that the TCA was agreed by the two at the 2019 Aero India exhibition in Bangalore.

The TCA expands already strong ties between the two companies, with much of the collaboration geared towards meeting Elbit Systems’ defence offset obligations within India.

ISRO to launch 3 satellites for Indian armed forces in the next 6 months

    From AW&ST

BENGALURU—India will launch three defense satellites over the next six months aimed at boosting the strategic communications and networking potential of its military.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the country’s national space agency, has announced plans to launch Emisat, an advanced electronic intelligence satellite, along with 28 third-party satellites, later this month. ISRO has not yet announced a final launch date.

Emisat, weighing about 420 kg (930 lb.), was developed by ISRO for the India’s state-run Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Emisat will be the primary payload aboard its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), while the piggyback satellites will cumulatively weigh about 250 kg.

“The mission is special,” ISRO Chairman K. Sivan says. “For the first time, we will try to orbit the rocket at three different altitudes.”

The primary satellite will be inserted into an orbit of 763 km altitude. The 28 secondary satellites will be released at 504 km, while the rocket’s fourth stage will remain in orbit at 485 km to demonstrate its potential as a platform for scientific tryouts.

Following Emisat, ISRO plans to launch two more defense satellites in July and August aboard the new Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). The launch dates will be finalized soon, ISRO said.

In January, ISRO launched the Microsat-R defense imaging satellite for the DRDO. The satellite was successfully injected into its intended orbit of 274 km aboard PSLV-C44.

One interesting data point that emerged from Wing Commander Kaduskar’s interview- he has flown “more than 2000 hours” over “almost” 14 years on a Su-30MKI. That works out to ~142 hours per year on the jet, but given that we don’t know how much more than 2000 hours and how many months lesser than 14 years, it is probably in the 160 hours per year range. Some other Su-30MKI pilots have logged over 180 hours per year. I suppose if a pilot goes on to take some courses that may impact the time they get in the air?

    Force India story- link

While Wg Cdr Kadushkar has always exclusively flown the Su-30MKI, he expressed his interest in flying any new aircraft that would reach the IAF’s hangars soon. With more than 2,000 flight hours logged in, the Wg Cdr said that he began flying only two years into his service and has been flying the Su-30 platform for almost 14 years.

Thank you very much James and that is much appreciated.

Meanwhile, I look forward to the restoration of the other valuable threads with stores of hard-earned knowledge bases that were similarly deleted in the past year or two.

Part of the richness of the forum was that posters came from all over the world; all with different viewpoints, unlike one -dimensional sites with a narrow focus such as F-16.net.

Many posters put in time and effort to share knowledge and that is what helped to make it one of premier international meeting places for modern aviation.

Hopefully the restoration of the missing threads will encourage many knowledgeable posters to return to the forum.

    Meanwhile, have a good weekend!

    Absolutely.

James, please look into the behavior of some posters like Mags76. The pattern of their posts, the snide remarks, the flamebait posts. Keypubs has been such a rich source of info , it would be a pity if posters start to leave this forum, sick of people that post with one intention-to start a flame war and to get threads locked.

There is no bias as you suggest.

Then why were 2 separate Indian Air Force and Tejas threads deleted or moved instead of removing or banning the persons who derailed these threads??

there is this one poster Mags76 who joined in January of this year and has already done nothing but bring back the acrimony between Indian and Pakistani posters. Civility was shown the door and mods have instead resorted to making very valuable threads disappear. A shame.

Hey Blackarcher, do you have evudence of a deceased PAF pilot?

If not why are you stating this on an open forum? Its the reason they deleted IAF thread.

Post reported, any reason this guy is not banned yet?

How many times have you been banned and come back with a new name on this forum, Yasser?

    https://sputniknews.com/asia/2019030…pilot-lynched/ “N

ot only was a Pakistani F-16 allegedly shot down in a dogfight with Indian jets on Wednesday, but the pilot, Shahaz-ud-Din, was reportedly killed after successfully bailing out from the doomed aircraft, the newspaper Firstpost reported, citing London-based lawyer Khalid Umar”

“The lawyer, who says that he obtained the information from the pilot’s family, claims that Shahaz-ud-Din was mistaken by locals in the Pakistani Nowshera sector as a pilot from a downed Indian jet and was subsequently lynched by a mob. According to Umar, the Pakistani pilot was eventually rescued by the Pakistani Army, but later died from the injuries he sustained in the assault.”

Before I get bashed for bringing up sputnik as a source and people start shouting no no there was no F-16. Is this Pakistani pilot a legitimate pilot and did this **** really happen(him getting lynched)? If this did happen than RIP for the pilot 🙁 .

    Found this on Quora, ”

Most intersting point is Wing Commander Varthaman’s father, S Varthaman, as Air Marshal , Shahaz-ud-Din’s father, Waseem-ud-Din, is also an Air Marshal of the Pakistan Air Force, who has flown F-16.”

His father has flown an F-16…..Is there any information to what aircrafts he has flown?

https://qr.ae/TWXRqp Did Khalid Umar really post on FB that he was the pilot of the F-16? http://www.uniindia.com/news/india/can-reality-be-so-strange-fb-post-claims-f-16-pakistani-pilot-was-killed-by-local-mob/1515947.html

Don’t believe that this will ever be corroborated by official sources. The Pakistani lawyer that revealed this mentioned that the pilot’s family gave the info. But the very fact that they haven’t tried to disprove this claim tells a lot, given how eager they were to try to disprove any other claims.

Hey Superhero. They did not delete the IAF thread. It will be back.

Meanwhile you have been trolling over there and in here as well. Sadly these days the Key.aero does not seem to have enough moderators to manage the forum. 5 years ago this would not have happened.

The mods simply don’t seem to care. look at the kind of posts that have been made by some Pakistani posters here, constantly flame baiting. But mods overlook it. And the temerity of this fellow to ask that I be banned.

JF-17 most likely took out the MiG-21 BiSON (Probably with a PL-5II). Question is, what happened to the F-16. Did the MiG-21 BiSON take out the F-16 before it was hit?

Wait for a few days. Once Wing Cmdr Abhinandan is debriefed we’ll know better. He’s the only person who knows exactly what happened apart from the deceased PAF pilot.

BlackArcher, if I understand your meaning correctly, here you are contradicting some Indian posters’ opinion on this forum, who implied that in a ”state like pakistan” even in today’s age, information outlet is controlled. One cannot have it both ways.

Considering the identity of this PAF pilot (now deceased according to the Indian air marshal), I think PAF would either have to prove he is alive or that he died some time ago. Let’s see what comes out of it.

Well it is a fact that media is more controlled in Pakistan than it is in India. Can be both a blessing and a curse. But yes, if people had taken images and posted it on some online fora or social media then it would be hard to control.

if he is alive and well, should be relatively easy to debunk that claim. Anyhow, we’ll find out soon enough I guess.

IAF has showed remains of AIM-120 C5 to media so it seems PAF F-16s were also involved and fired on target(s) across the LOC.

Indeed. And for India to get this verified would be easy- to contact the weapons’ manufacturer and find out who the customer was for the missile with that serial number.

In other related news, the identity of the PAF pilot that was downed has been revealed on social media. Can someone confirm if this is true. He is an Air Marshal’s son, so if he really did die then I’m sure it will be difficult to keep this news from surfacing.

So, it was likely a F-16B, ex-RJAF. This will also confirm the serial number seen on the part in one of the pics of the wreckage.

Also note the foliage near this crash. Quite different from the bare mountainside on which the MiG-21 Bison’s wreckage was.

The PAF has now come up with details of the pilot of the ill fated F 16. The F-16 pilot who was killed yesterday has been now identified by PAF as Wg Cdr Shahzaz Ud Din of No 19 Squadron flying F-16 He is the brave son of Air Marshal Waseem Ud Din, DCAS(Operations). May he RIP.

Basically from what I can see, the only confirmed and verified shoot down is that of an IAF Mig-21 with the pilot in Pakistan custody.

The additional PAF claim of 1 other IAF fighter jet downed has yet to be confirmed (and may have been retracted?), and the IAF claim of 1 PAF fighter downed has yet to be confirmed as well.

The Mi-17 loss is most likely a crash at this stage but the situation is evolving.

I think that’s more or less the situation so far?

    The facts are these:

IAF claimed 1 loss and 1 PAF jet shot down – basically 2 pilots downed
PAF claimed 0 losses and 2 IAF jets shot down – basically 2 pilots downed

    A few hours later

IAF claimed 1 loss and 1 PAF jet shot down – basically 2 pilots downed
PAF claimed 0 losses and 1 IAF jet shot down- basically 1 pilot downed

Basically, the Pakistani DG ISPR said that 2 pilots were downed, 1 admitted to a military hospital and the other in custody. And then poof! The pilot admitted to hospital is no longer referred to. He just vanished into thin air.

What most likely happened is that the pilot that ejected out of the PAF jet was injured badly and admitted to hospital. Upon realising that revealing this particular pilot’s identity would reveal that he was Pakistani and not Indian, the IAF’s claim of having shot down a PAF jet will be proven.

And so lo and behold, the Pakistani DG ISPR’s statement conveniently changed to 1 jet shot down and 1 pilot in custody.

What happened to the “second downed pilot” that Pakistan DG ISPR Asif Gafoor was referring to in his press conference? The guy was hospitalised as per Asif Gafoor’s press briefing. No Twitter revealing that pilot’s identity because it will reveal too much?
