What compromises does MiG-29K/KUB have that MiG-35(UB) doesnt have? Because framewise it is exactly the same. They kept the beefy landing gear, they kept the Krueger flaps, the massive barn door flaps, the overall wing and frame design etc etc. Same engine too. So it is flying exactly like K/KUB would.
the wing folding mechanism, which restricts the K/KUB to 7.5Gs. the MiG-35 will be 9G capable, since it will lack the wing-fold, which is useless for a land based fighter.
And I’d expect the landing gear to be lighter since it doesn’t have to be plonked onto an aircraft carrier. No arresting hook and its related localized strengthening either. All in all, a few hundred kgs lighter airframe is what could be expected for a de-navalized fighter.
After the presentation there is no real ambiguity about the engines or the radar. Engines will be the vanilla RD-33MK’s and the radar will be the vanilla Zhuk. This was stated during the presentation itself.
Zhuk-AMEh is supposed to be the production standard AESA radar. Not the Zhuk-M
Talk about a shift in alliances! A year ago the TuAF shot down a Russian jet and now they’re conducting joint attacks
The setting up of a logistics center in Bangalore will help further improve fleet availability from the current 63%.
India Russia negotiating Su-30MKI support deal
Russia and India are close to signing a long-term support agreement for the fleet of Sukhoi Su-30MKI combat aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF). It includes an improved schedule for the delivery of spares from Russia, local manufacturing of some spares and the creation of logistics hub for the aircraft at the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) production facility in Bangalore. India has contracted for the delivery of more than 300 of these aircraft.
..
However, placement of a logistics center for the Su-30MKI at Bangalore in southern India is a curious choice, said one Russian aerospace export specialist, “given that the Su-30MKIs are license-assembled at the HAL facility in Nasik and not in Bangalore.” Nasik is almost 700 miles north of Bangalore. But those familiar with the condition of the various HAL facilities located in India argue that Bangalore would be more accessible than Nasik and is also the premier high-technology hub of the Indian economy. Creation of a support facility for the Su-30MKI in Bangalore “would be not unlike the approach of Russian industry of having initial, new-production aircraft manufactured in one location and using a second location for the overhaul and modernization of the same model of aircraft,” the Russian specialist said.

Still meh about it until it is 100% confirmed it will actually have decent AESA, RD-33MKM and R-37M.
Very impressive flight display! The MiG-29K derived airframe without the compromises of a naval carrier fighter clearly show up in the sprightly performance. But what other key improvements does this feature and how come there is ambiguity about its radar and engine?
The biggest issue however remains the reliability of MiG jets. The MiG-29 family has always been a fantastic airshow performer, it is in the overall reliability of systems that it disappoints.
Thanks Vishnu ! A first, these pics of an Indian Kilo class sub from inside!
