Ive always found the boneyard interesting. Ive seen a few pics of all that ww2 heavy metal sat out there after the war. Very sad but amazing sight.

Can anyone recomend any good books (idealy with lots of pics) about the boneyard back then or any websites as i would love to see more images of all those 17s & 24s

    🙂 thanks

Im sure i heard/read somewhere that Air Atlantiques dakotas were being retired as it was going to cost to much to refit the cockpits to meet new security standards (ie lockable doors for cockpits due to nov11th)

But obviously you’ve still got them  have i got this info completely wrong or has something been done to keep them in service ? 🙂

    WOW!!

I was told by others not to bother with this forum due to threads like this. I appreciate everyone has kissed & made up but i cant get over what i have just read 🙁

I have posted a few threads and have had nothing but positive help and information so far (fingers crossed)

At the end of the day you dont have to reply to posts do you ? if you do it is to be helpful, not to be condescending !!

    I am disgusted 😡

The web site sounds a great idea. I would certainly love a book though with plenty of pictures and all the stories about the filming.

I have a treasured osprey book by David stubbs which briefly covers the filming of the Belle and has a few nice pics but always felt it only touched the surface so to speak

Never realised how big the factory was until seeing those airial pics! its bloody huge! neary as big as the housing estate opposite. Shame no pictures have turned up though. But i never imagined to find out as much as i have 🙂

well i never knew that. I did hear that the main entrance to the jag plant was the original entrance to the old spit factory and that the housing estate opposite was the airstrip? if thats true?

I was under the impression that the jag factory had been built on the site many years later. So John C do you know what stands now of the original factory. 🙂

You know the one thing that kinda spoils the film for me now is the ending. How they get the wheels down just in the nick of time? Although when i first saw it aged fourteen i was full of relief and joy 🙂

End of the day it is a hollywood film and you know its going to be exagerated, if your after a factual informative programme you watch discovery wings.

Off subject just a tad but have you seen that t.v series Band of brothers, all i can say is absolutely fantastic!! 😀 read somewhere theres talk of doing a second series but based on the island hopping campaign in the pacific. Anyone else heard this

Any more pics to come?? love seeing them

Ill have to get that magazine then. Suprised when the remake was brought out on DVD there wasnt a 2nd disc with behind the scenes extras? shame that 🙁

Wow love all the pics 🙂 must say im gutted i missed out on it all. I was always a bit of a car nut in my early youth but on seeing this film have been hooked on planes ever since. Realy brought home to me how terryfying it must have been, it was the opening sequence that realy shook me, them men trapped in that exploding b17 realy got my attention.

Be good if they remastered it, some of the airial model shots look slightly naf nowadays, dont get me wrong still love it but think how much better it could look with some pc wizardry. Would love to see a similar thing based on the story of a Lanc.

Is there any more info on the real footage that was used ? theres one clip where a 17 is flying along being shot up by a plane just sittin right behind it. each time i see it i want to shout at the tv, get him ! look hes right there !! im not trying to be morbid, just curious as to the whole story of the engagement if its known ?
