I would imagine that if it had nose dived in from the air the wings would have been torned off ( and the engines almost for sure), on the other hand, if it didn’t, why is the nose then so damaged. Can’t see the props very clearly, are the bent? Never seen anything like this. Salu2 Art

I tried to organise it on a weekend, but it wasn’t possible due to the fact that the flights that made a one day trip possible, didn’t fly during the weekend. Which ment it was going to be a 2 or 3 day trip, this, together with the fact that the friday and monday flights were 3 times the cheap price of the tuesday, wendnesday and thursday price, we prefered the tuesday.

However, on the brigh(er) side, I am already organising a likewise trip to the museum in Rome, on a saturday.

Well, it took some time to organise, but coming Tuesday we (a mixed group of Dutch ARG and belgian BAHAAT members (including some known posters here)) will be visiting the museum. Flying in from Amsterdam with the morning flight, and departing the same afternoon. Guess around 4 hrs is “enough” to do the museum. BW R

Don’t know the prices in the UK, but I guess that a 350 new can be obtained for a small amount more (they are here around 350 p. st.). So my obtion should be to look for a discounted new 350. Apart from this, what is the price of a 400D? Might be worth to include this in the choice.I should’nt go for the 10D.

Well, severall Avengers of the Dutch Navy were obtained by the Brazilian Navy for use onboard their carrier. Most of these , if not all, were obtained after they were being phased out by the Dutch at Hato, At least one servived into the seventies when it was last seen, without its outer wings, somewhere at a facility near Rio. First the Brazilian Avengers were midnight blue, but were later repainted in a high viz white and red. BW Roger

Never heard of it. Is it known if they have an Avenger there?

As for crashing into a hillside, the area he crashed in is not famed for its high ground.

Well, we (my town is 4 meters below sea level) consider every ground more then a meter above sea level high ground, let alone 2 meters, then they are part of the infamous Dutch mountains

Wasn’t a member of the forum working with Corgi?

By the way, the SAR Catalina is also a good looking one, as is the JU-52 on floats. 2007 is going to be expensive.

Did you see that 1/72 Wellington op page 2, costing almost 800 P.St. Must be a typo!

I am happy with the Avengers and the S58. Hope they are going to make a Dutch TBM and S58 in the future, aswell as 1 or 2 colourfull TBM borate bombers. On the Halifaxes, I like the one with the covered nose and desert camo.

The pics are from prototypes, they often look odd, and the real models are better. So maybe a nose job has already been done in the production examples.

I shouldn’t be surprised if it is going to ‘live’ on the European continent for a year or two.
