Never knew the Americans operated dual seaters in desert camo. Always nice to learn.

I have heard no rumours regarding a forthcoming 40D, however the release of the 10 mega pixel 400D does make me wonder why the 30D was put on the market!Cheers
Eric
Between the Photokina (next week) and the PMA (February 2007) a (let’s call it a) 40D will be released. So with the season almost over, it might be a good idea to wait a few months, that is, if you have time to wait.

The Spitfire was not swapped for the Firefly. BW Roger
Thanks for the info. Soon we (a small delegation of 2 aircraft/aviation archeology museums) are making a 1 day visit to Gardermoen, and seeing the salvaged Junkers ( and maybe some other machines) in the workshop is one of our reasons to go there. I think I’ll mail the museum when a date is known. What can be expected during the Fly-in at the 17th? I don’t know that much on the Norwegian vintage aviation scene. If interested, I might drop in for a few hours. BW Roger
Is the workshop open for the public, or does one need a special permission? BW Roger
Who cares about that Spitfire. There is a good reason it went, and the entire deal it went for isn’t known. If it only went for that derelict Firefly it should be a lousy deal, but it didn’t. As there are still more than 1 of that type left in Holland the prospect of seeing a Firefly in 5 years or so to me is well worth loosing a Spitfire. Liking it is something else, and all th UK based members who don’t see the problem should cry havoc if some rich Japanese should buy PO-S from the RAF Museum. BW Roger
Are there now so many Spitfires in Holland….?
Bruce
We have 3 more Spitfires in Holland, and I’ll be happy to wave them all good bye. Never liked the type, but a wrecked Firefly for a Spitfire, why not both Fireflies ?
BW Roger (IRSH)
Here is aq pic of the tailsection of a Dutch Navy Firefly. Might fit nice to the recently arrived tailless one. BW Roger
Are the wings part of the deal then? There is a tailsection in Holland from a crashed Dutch Navy Firefly, so then things are looking not that bad. However if it is only a fuselage without front, end and wings?
Well, I hope that the Firefly can be restored to a full Dutch MLD example. I also hope that H53 will remain its current livery whenever it takes to the air, but I am very afraid it will be repainted into a full RAF example. At least now we have a Firefly. I can remember another swap a decade ago when a Dutch Spitfire was swapped for 1 or 2 plastic examples. I wonder if H53 will be on the static the 13th at Duxford.
The Aviodrome just mailed a pressrelease in which they mentioned that they have sold their Spitfire. Most probably that’s why the Firefly arrived in Holland yesterday.
Don’t know, somebody saw it enroute.
Well, the Firefly arrived in Holland today.
How complete is that Firefly, as a lot is missing in the pic? Is that all there is, or are parts as the wings included? BW Roger
There are talks of a Firefly project coming to Holland, maybe it is this one (and maybe it is not). BW Roger
