There is a replica/mock-up at Cradle of Aviation that they built a few years ago. I believe that the Dutch museum which acquired the remains of three Buffaloes a few years ago from Chris Prevost has contracted the guys at Cradle of Aviation to reconstruct a Buffalo from these remains. Cheers, Richard
The Aviodrome has the remains of the 3 machines in storage and has nothing to do with the reconstruction at CoA, which is being made for the Military Aviation Museum, another Dutch museum.

Here is a newsclip in English. BW Roger
Hi Tony,
The remains of the machine are buried in soft ground
Most of the story can be found on the site of D.A.R.E. (Dutch Aircraft Research & Excavation). This organisation is involved in the whole project
Under Latest News paper clips and pics can be read/seen.
The story is a complicated one as municipal politics (and we all know how politicians can make things “easier”) are involved, for the moment it is better not to say too much. Two of the paper clips are in English, and after reading that, you’ll understand.

As far as I know, he is one of two crewmembers still onboard the remains of a shot down and crashed HP Hampden. The wreck is still in the ground. The complete story however, is a complex one. BW Roger
They don’t operate the Albatross anymore, only Turbo Mallards. On TV it was shown how the machine nosedived into the sea, whith the torn off right wing, or at least a big part of it, still high in the air burning. BW Roger
I photographed one in Holland last week. BW Roger
But as far as I know hasn’t arrived in Belgium yet. BW Roger
Hi David, the ones at CV are now facing their end fast, condition is getting worse by the month now. Just back and it is a sad sight

There is one in Finland, but this is a Finnish version, with a different wing construction. However, it looks for 99% like a standard Buffalo. BW Roger
Well the chanches of seeing one of the Dutch ones at Legends are even more slim than seeing the RAF museums Halifax making one enigined loopings over Duxford during the show! BW Roger
No, the MLM one is a static recreation, and the other three (parts mostly) if ever used in a restauration, will never fly. BW Roger
In Holland are the remains of 3 of the type (2 of them former Dutch ones) in long term storage. We are talking about remains, not complete machines or wrecks, but in the future these remains might be incorporated into a partly new, partly original reconstruction. The MLM at Soesterberg expect a full scale ‘new one’ during 2006 or 2007, it is currently being made in the USA.

I hope that one day somebody will have the guts to restore/remake his TBM-3 into a TBM-3W2. BW Roger
Not sure, but I thought the parts were dumped in a lake or shed, where they were recovered from decades later. Its identity, nr 107, is on the upper tail fin. BW Roger
The original fuselage parts, which are all painted in 2 tone Luftwaffe camouflage, and the original undercart, are clearly visible. great shot, couldn’t have done it better! BW Roger
