I know, but I have to live with this. To be honest, its a Spitversion I realy like, and I prefer seeing that Spit over the Hawk (and that out of my mouth) 😮 , but there are other things keeping me from going. I have to “shoot” a 50th wedding anniversary Sunday (by camera, not by MP-40) , so in stead of LFA, it is Zoersel for the Chipmunk meet this year, and a trip to HP57 tomorrow morning to shoot the museum for an UK based mag. I was hoping someone would react mentioning the Spit, and you did. :diablo: BW Roger

Thanks Damien, then I stay at home tonight in stead of driving to Paris, no LFA for me this year. BW Roger

I don’t know Mark, all I can say it is a rather small machine, most probably a single engined one. Here is another pic. BW roger

If they start from right to left, I normally stand at the far end aat the left side. Doing so, I shoot the aircraft while just leaving the ground, while rolling out during landing, and while they taxi back. This gives me 3 opertunities. The walk from the staion will be an hour or so. The airfield is on the hill you face while leaving the station. As no much people walk the route, it is better to follow the cars which will be standing motionless (most of the time) along the route. Just booked my trip to Madrid this morning, going there(the first weekend of July) with some other forum members. On the Hudson, I saw it when it just arrived. Then there was a wing and the entire fuselage without the tailsection and the cockpit/nose section. It was in a remarkable condition, still in its two tone camouflage. What was of special interest was the fact that the machine was almost devoid of the Britisch roundels (they were almost washed away) but it showed its full former American insigna, the start with the red dot in the middle. Might have a pic somewhere, but as my archive is in chaos, I doubt if I can find it. BW Roger

Sometimes Sigma lenses have to be rechipped by Sigma to make them compatable with the lastest camera’s. A friend I know has a 135-400 Sigma zoom. On his D30 it works, on his 10D it works till 390 mm, after that it gives error 99. Rechipping is either free of charche, and somethimes, with the older models, a small amount has te be paid, around 20 PST or so. BW Roger

[QUOTE=paulc]RogerS – yes there is a walkway behind that row of aircraft so it does help with photography although the light is not great – it is amazing what can be salvaged with some tweaking. Some of the aircraft of a list of exhibits I have seen were missing from the display – possibly in the restoration areas which were off limits. There are 3 new looking hangars 1 of which contained some autogyros and helicopters – the other 2 were again off limits so probably empty.

Thanks Paul, now I know I jhave to bring my tripod with me. Unfortuntaly, the 2 off limits hangars are filled from back to forwards. Hidden among others are some sbres, a t-33 and a very beautifull DH Rapide in military colors. And that are only the ones I know of. Walking from the museum to the FIO takes around 2 hr 15 minutes, I once did this (the first time). Getting a cab is more easy now. We pay around 3PST for the trip

Hi Paul, been there many times and plan to go again on July 1st. looks as if the museum layout in one of the hangars (eith the biplanes) has chanched. In the old days, less than a year ago, these were standing with the tails towards the wall. But looking at the pics it looks as if there is a walking path between the wall and the biplanes now, giving much better photo opertunities. BW Roger

    Hi Jochen,

So noticed the trick works? But only when there is a good mix of daylight indoors. In the Aviodrome you can forget this way of shooting. Did you notice that PaulC is showing a lot of Madrid stuff on the forum? Have a look and you know what you can expect. BW Roger

The mail said that the owners son, who could not arrive before 15.00 hrs, had to be there before the Buchon could be brought out. If so, I realy wished I had sit it out. BW Roger

I visited the event yesterday, mainly to view the OO-MAF. Unfortunatly it wasn’t on show, so at around 12.00 I went home. Then I received a mail that the OO-MAF was planned to be brought to the static after 15.00 hrs. Do you know if this realy was the case? If so, I guess that most have missed it. BW Roger

    Roger,

Just to point out. When I got the information for CRASH about this aircraft during my stay at the PRO at Kew (OK now National Archives) some years ago, there was no confirmation that the bombload included the underwing 500-pounders. It is assumed that they might be present but better safe than sorry eh.

    Cheers

    Cees

    Hi Cees,

When I spoke to the airforce prof, Captain S, he said he had a “nasty feeling” towards the Woubrugge Mosquito, so I think there is something there.
