No mountains here in Holland. but we have the IJselmeer/(once known as) Zuiderzee. Much better for aircraft wrecks than mountains :diablo:

    Hi Cees,

No problem. I’ll be coming to Fort Velthuis soon. By the way, the Stirling project made it, with 2 pics to half a page in Fl.Cl. Unfortunatly, the photo editor made it into two very strange looking pics. Cutting the entire bottom of the Fuselage, and the entire upper deck/cockpit frm the interior. What was left of them however shows an interesting cockpit frame close up, and an even nicer radio set. sometimes they should shot the photo editing people. BW Roger

Thanks Rob, I’ll shall advise him to have a look. I have a 17-35 and don’t think either to get the 16-36. I doubt it’s that better than the one I have (never had problems with mine) and as it’s only 1 mm wider. No. Some 13 years ago I bought a Canon 15 mm but I didn’t start using it untill I got my digital(s) with the 1.6 enlargements. It suddenly made a great wide angle and in PSP it is possible to remove the last few “curves”that remain. It’s expensive. However a company called Zemitar or Zenitar makes a 16mm fisheyye F2.8 which comes very lose to the Canon one, at only a fraction of the price. I think it is possible to get one for 50 pounds or so. Sounds like a joke, it isn’t however. The enclosed pic I took on the Canon 15 mm. Thanks for the info, BW Roger

Hi Robbo, I remember you were using a 17-40L in Hendon last year. Are you happy with it? A friend of mine just bought a Sigma 15-30 3 weeks ago and isn’t happy with it (it is the only Sigma among his other Lglass (28-70L and 100-400L). Will the 17-40L be give him an upgrade in quality , or better said, are you happy with it. He is now thinking between the 14-40L and a 17-35 F2.8L (the one I use) but that’s even 2nd hand twice the price. BW Roger

    Hi Cees,

But this release was made by the Luchtmacht Bergingsdienst themselves, and issued to the press by the Dutch Min of Defense. So in this case I think the message is a 100% untouched/unedited one. You see it monday when you open the email. And, did you find something interested among the Wellington debris this morning, and did you talk to Henk? BW Roger

The press release by the airforce is mentioning 4 1900 pond bombs, and the possible remains of 4 missing crewmembers. Three crewmwmbers, only 1 being identified were buried short after the crash. So, I am convinced the 4 big ones are there. BW Roger

They were inbound for Kassel, which makes mines not so obvious I think. Don’t know how I can get the press release posted. In that they talk about instable 1900 ponders.

That makes the circle round! Hopes the rest of the crew will be found. What confuses me is that the load were four 1900 pounders, I always thought the Stirling could only carry small bombs. The ones that came with my Airfix one were very small. How did those big ones fitted into the bombing bay. Must have been very tiny/small in diameter, but very long bombs. BW Roger

    Jazeker

Mailed you the pressrelease Cees, so I’ll think you will see it on monday. When I read it, I get the impression that there is a lot left in that field. They talk about the entire machine ( but in thousends and thousends of pieces I think).
