Are you sure the wings are fake? I had a good look and they are very detailed. The engines are fake, but as I said, not sure about (maybe at least parts of) the wings.

Hi Jochen, yeah I can still remember that afternoon as we were sitting some 3 hours in an almost freezing (2 degrees celcius) abandoned and dark museum hall. Think it is time for a forum meet in Sunny Madrid the first weekend of July to compansate. Will be just in time to see the FIO’s Polikarpov in the air (or maybe not), attend the FIO airshow and visit the SPAF Museum.

Another thing, the swatika’s on the crashed Mustang are very crude ones, handpainted, irregular, and not in a way looking as the killmarkings now displayed at the warbirds which are, when compared to these originals, are way, and way to neat. BW Roger

Three years ago, after shooting slides since 1975 in all formats (6 by 6 , 6 by 4,5 and the bulk on 35 mm), I was a digitac sceptic. I couldn’t believe a 6 mb pic from a Kodak KDC520c/Eos-1N combination could come near my scanned slides. Then I bought one, and within days I saw the light. Up to A5, the Kodak blew my slides away in print ( I work for quite a number of mags , severall of them glossies). That year, my slide consumption went from around 300 a year to 23 , the following year, 2004, it was down to 6 rolls and for 2005, I don’t think I will use my IV or Mamyia. With the gear I use now, Eos-1D and untill a few weeks ago a 10D in combination with Lglass only. I got printed results that were not possible with scanned slides (I use(d) Velvia most of the time, never liked the Kodachromes). So, what’s the verdict, there are still people claiming that their vintage Leica’s loaded with TRI-X are the norm, still a handfull are still using 8 mm film in stead of the ” unsharp ” 8mm video’s and still many belief in the superiority of 35 mm film. The truth is, although you think this wil not happen to you, after you start using a DSLR there is no way back. The results you get are by far superior to the analog results you are used to. And for the future generations, well, I have loads of Kodachromes that have turned green (64) or red (25), 100 iso negatives that, compared to todays rolls have a terrible grain and 40 yar old ” inferior” AGFA slides that look as perfect as if shot yesterday. And for the record, I only shoot in RAW which give me an extra workflow of only up to 1 minute over JPGs (in Photoshop CS) BW Roger

I flew in a Constellation, Avenger and Concorde so what remains (and will so I am afraid) are a ME 262, Stuka ( any other german WW2 fighter/bomber will also do), Mercator , Neptune , Thunderbird 2 (the classic one from the sixties) BW Roger

thanks Cees. Time to raise that one ! I wonder if it is in German or Swiss waters. And Stieglitz, beware of that museum, there are some strange bearded types around there trying to sell camera’s and other Canon related things :diablo:

Oh, and by the way, did you know that next saturday some 10 km from that strange collection a technical school has an open day where you can show their collection of aircraft, ranging from 1950 and 1960 aerea jets to an f16 (to be brought there on monday)

The German movie company that is at the moment using a S58 for a film on the Hamburg floods will continue with a film on the Dresden bombartment. Looks like they are most probably the ones interested in the cockpit. If they are , they also have another use for it as the project after the Dresden movie will be a movie on the Berlin Airlift, so they might use it as a Lancastrian cockpit too. BW Roger
