Thanks for the info Allan. What could be the reason the museum choosed Armstrongs machine? might there be a Belgium link or so?

Thank you both for the information. By the way Jochen, I took the f84 Thunderjet with “your” 100-400 IS and the 10d, the others with a smaller lens. So now you can see the use of IS, making telephotography possible even indoors with slow speed. You still need however a wide angle apart from the 100-400. I decided yesterday to go for the mk II. I am flying to Barcelona on Monday its a place i have never been before and i will be thinking of Mark while i am there,I was wondering if there is a train station near where Mark was lost because if time allows i could maybe lay some flowers for him.

You can take the train to Sabadell (take the first trainstation as Sabadell has 2) When you walk from the trainstation towards the field (you can see the tower to give directions) you can walk on a dirt road that is only 30cm from the perimeter fence. When you cross the runway, you’ll notice when the fence is newer than the rest. That’s the place where the aircraft hit the ground first. In the entrance of the restaurant/aero club (where the Super Saeta is standing) there is a small memorial in the form of a model of the machine. I’ll go to Barcelona in 3 days time. On the 3rd a huge airshow is held in the harbour. BW Roger

Well, it will be back in a few days, resprayed into full military livery. On the 30th this month, it will be rolled out while at the same moment a book on the Dutch Cats, and especially this Cat, will be available. I know it is in Dutch, but it has many, many pics in it, and is rather cheap, around 10 or 11 P.St or so.

This afternoon the Cat left Valkenburg NAS to receive its “paint” at AMS. It will emerge in the livery of a MLD Catalina. BW Roger

The weather prevented the Mustang to come, so I hope you can “get” him next year (or come to Lelystad on the 4th of september). BW Roger

Hi Jochen, here are some of my pics. At first some of the “wheels” at the event. I think they are a M10, Firefly and an (to me) unknown one.

Well, isn’t it time for a “Mark II” then Damien 😀 . I tried one and the AF went fast an aqurate. Just back from CPS as my 100-400 broke down (again). When I said I was going for a Mk II, although I wanted something with a 1.66 8 Mb sensor, I was told that it was wise to wait for the Photokina next month. So I hope it is a 45AF 8 or 10 m “5D” or so. BW Roger

I have used the “tape” option on my Canon 500m with the 1.4 and 2.0 extender. It works reasoably with the 1.4 but with thee 2.0 the AF went complete gaga. Now I only use extenders while the lens is on a tripod and on MF.
