Nice pics Stieglitz. This morning I overslept (the trip to Hendon yesterday was a bit too much I think) , so I am afraid I missed the action. Hope to have another chanche next year. Are you coming to Schaffen-Diest? Highlight of the season for me due to the amount of machines, informality and the good photo opertunities (if the winds good and the sun shines). BW Roger
Just back from Hendon. Spent 4 hours on the ferry with more and more people getting seasick. Still have the movements in my head. Hendon was fine, hadn’t been there for a year or six or so. Only the new situation in the BOBM I didn’t like much. Had to loose too much time ( I was in a hurry to go back to Holland) seeing a movie before being allowed in the hall to get the pics.
Nice to meet you Robbo. Wasn’t there for 5 minutes when we met. Think of going to post some pics tomorrow.
The livery as shown on the Jungmeister is correct, the Dutch ones looked like these, we had some 6 of them, others say 12.
BW Roger
See you there Robbo. Anyone else going to Hendon saturday? BW Roger
Wait till you see the one owned by my Spanish flying club. In full Argentine colours. Hope to go there in 2 weeks. Succes tomorrow in Brasschaat and Deurne. Hope to go there Sunday. For now I am preparing for the Hendon trip. Have to take the boat at 07.15, then by coach to Hendon ( with 80 plus aviation minded Dutchmen) , back by coach and boat, and at home at 01.30. Maybe to tired to go to Belgium (but I hope not). BW Roger
I also “scored” this S11. BW Roger
It was in full Netherlands East Indies colours as used in 1941. BW Roger
Saw this Jungmann arrive in marginal weather. BW Roger
When the weather is fine, I’ll be there on Sunday. BW Roger
Hi Kenneth,
Since 1980 I visited all the ILA’s, first at Hanover, later to Berlin. I did the same with Le Bourget and Farnborough (1975 to 1998 or so ), but now the ILA is the only one of the big three I still go to. I like the event, photography is good. The vintage machines are in a special compound and easy to shoot, and there are always enough surpises to justfy the trip from Holland. Yesterday, I could enter the ILA grounds at 07.00 AM. There was nobody and 2 hours later I had done the job, It was a shame the weather was so bad, but at least it wasn’t raining in the early morning. So in 2006 I’ll be there again (if still alive). BW Roger
The Connie didn’t fly Stieglitz. It was in the static and I didn’t photograph it as it was in no comparison with the situation I had in Basel last week. Here is the Mitchell. Not a spectacular shot either, as I said, the weather was hell. BW Roger
And a pair of Mustangs. BW Roger
As was this YAK-3. BW Roger
Severall YAK-11ns were there. BW Roger
This former NVA AN-2 is now registrated as F-FUKM, and is fitted with a nice painting. BW Roger
Hi Kenneth, going to the ILA this saturday, so hope to “shoot” it there. Something about German Lakes, do you have more info on a complete HE177 lying at the bottum of the Bodensee? I understand it is very intact, should be a nice one to raise. Can you confirm it? BW Roger
