One of the Piece of Cake Spitfires is preserved in Best, Holland. Just had a look at the site of the Kent BOB Museum, but there is a lot of “no’s” (no camera’s, no video, no notebooks) involved when paying a vistit overthere. Well, they must have there reasons, but under those “rules”, I have “no” interest in paying a visit. BW Roger
Repairend and flying. BW Roger
Have you checked The CWGC site for all his details?.
From there if it has a place his mother and father came from, a letter to a local Newspaper seeking relatives might be worth a try.
I think every source has been checked, but with no succes.

Thanks for the heads-up Roger… Please keep us posted! :):):)
Is this the one where there are 2 x 500lb. bombs still on board?
Yes, that’s the one. Thanks to some info given on this forum in an earlier post (in January), after first deciding that the wrecksite was “safe”as long as there was 50 cm ground above of the bombs, shortly afterwards (after the media was informed), they (the political “ones”) decided the Mosquito had to be salvaged. BW Roger
The longest I use is the 500 with 2x. Making it a 1000 mm on FF, 1300 on 1.3 and 1600 on 1.6 , but most of the time the 500 alone on a 1.6 crop camera is enough. BW Roger
Got one from catpow, my virusscanner prevented me from opening, so I hope I am still virusfree. BW Roger
With some luck I receive some more slides soon. Hope they are also showing the orange ones, as I am less (better said not) interested in the camouflaged/silver military ones (unless they are duals). BW Roger
I have no Luftwaffe aircraft parts, but what I have are Luftwaffe and Luftwaffe paratroopers flightgear, uniforms, helmets, medals, wings and that kind of stuff. BW Roger
If it floated for over 90 minutes, so it must be rather intact. Posted the story severall years ago on the forum, don’t have the details at hand here, it is in my old, crashed, computer.
Well, if somebody is interested in a B29 in Europe, there is one in Holland in 30 meters deep water. It ditched there in 48, and sank after floating 1 1/2 hours, so it can’t be that damaged.
In the 1970s, 3 TBMs were preserved in Japan, haven’t heard from them since. Any news on them?
Thanks to everyone for all the information so far, I’m surprised at how long ago the registrations were reserved.
Am I right in thinking that PH-PLI is Miss Ashley/Trusty Rusty, or is this a second P51?
That is another one. The Two machines with the reservations have nothing to do with the one of the Early Birds. But a reservation for a registration is just that, this not indicates that a P51 and P40 are indeed coming.
Still had hopes it was going to fly in Dutch military colours, it is not to be.
If only a fraction of the costs that were used (wasted in my opinion, but that is personal) in getting that Vulcan in the air again had been used in other projects, a lot of interesting aircraft could have been given a safe(r) future.
Hi David, the organisation looking for a TBM has nothing to do with the museum that has the Anson. It is a completely new (let’s call it a) group.
