Yes, I have some 200 more, but that will be a bit boring I think. I’ll post another one at the airliners forum in 5 minutes. BW Roger

Although it was “non fiction” , I wrote, together with another enthousiast, a 150 page (including 200 photo’s) book on the Lockheed Constellation. Sold that much already that we have passed the break even point. BW Roger

    I am still tired (and angry like hell)! 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

What saved the day a bit, was that we could photograph some old preserved aircraft at the roof of Stuttgart airfield, aswell as the recently restored Super Connie at Munich airport. BW Roger

I drove 10 hours last friday, as I was told that it was possible that accreditated press was given 4 hours of photo opertunities at OS. When I arrived, we were not allowed on the field and were only allowed to photograph out of the museum building. We drove 1900 kms that day, all in vain. It was the worst experience in 30 years of airshow history. Bw Roger

Haven’t seen it yet, but I have seen their Alpha Jets and they are not bad looking at all. If this is needed to keep it in the air it’s fine with me. It’s only paint. It isn’t historicly destroying an airframe as they did with the TBM 3W2 , or those stupid looking dual Spitfires with their odd non standard “but better looking ” foolisch streamlined second canopies in stead of the ugly original version. Don’t forget that Red Bull is operating a lot of historic aircraft ranging from single engined types till the huge DC-6. If they want their fleet in their own colours, this is only understandable and a small price to pay to see thise flying. BW Roger

Just saw the picture and yes, I liked it!

Well, it is still early in the season, and the pressrelease on the cancellation off Lelystad only arrived yesterday, but it looks as if the new rules have been triggered by the SU-27 crash in the Ukraine last summer. As a result, the question of how to make an airshow safer could only be answered by the logical outcome that the safest airshows are those that are not taken place. So far this has no effect on the only military airshow in Holland, as the FAA has no juristriction on military airbases. But, imagine, only one show a year! And, don’t forget, this is a heavy metal show, and not a vintage aircraft show (by the way, the FAA has the rule that “old aircraft (over 35 years) are dangerous aircraft”. It is always possible to bypass things by organising a fly-in in stead of an airshow, but this involves no flying, but is better than nothing. I don’t know yet how the display pilots in Holland are reacting to this. But imagine, all over the world they are celebrating 100 years of powered flight, and in my country this is sabotaged y the FAA. BW Roger

Looks like the photo was shot with a very low sun. When you shoot on slides, the first and last hours of the day, when the sun is low, are often “coming out” with a slightly orange (warm) colour on it. Many photographers (including myself) love those “Magic hour(s))” as they are called. The same story goes for photography during winters, when the sunlight turns more “yellow” anyway on slides. I’ll guess it is the same on digitals, although the WB might interfere, and prevent the “warming” of the image.. BW Roger

With this type of camera’s there is often a delay between the pushing of the button, and the time that the actual photo is made. This can mean that you are not photographing the moment you have choosen, but the moment half a second later! If you push with the aircraft flying full frame, you can end up with a shot of only the tailsection leaving the photo, or with no aircraft at all. Apart from this, the camera need some time to write the photo down, which can also take some seconds (during which you can not photograph). Have a look at dpreview.com , I’ll guess it is already tested there, and they also have an Olympus forum where you can asked your questions to the actual users of the camera. For digital action photography, a dslr is best, and a camera as the D30 is now second hand not much more that the Olympus, while a top of the art 10D can be get for around $1300. BW Roger

Without doubt this camera can produce great pics of static and slow moving objects. However, if you want to take shots of aircraft in the air (or other “action” work , I am afraid it has some serious disadvantages ( like eg shutter delay). What does it cost , as maybe the price difference between it and a dslr is worth considering ? Bw Roger
