    RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

I stood some 50 yards away from the crash at Sabadell that day. Might be of interesting to know that in the entrance of Sabadell’s terminal/restaurant, they made a small monument for Mark Hanna, consisting of a model of the aircraft with a small plaque.

There are no new rules, but let’s say that the FAA in Scottsdale is working different than let’s say the FAA in Dallas! I’ll bet there were much, much lesser problems for the Swiss if the airframe was in Texas or Florida, in stead of Arizona! The law is the law, and rules are rules, but as we know every judge gives his own interpretation and punishment! At least N749NL “escaped” from Arizona. BW Roger

    RE: Swiss Super Connie

This weekend I checked the story with the Aviodome Constellation team, and they were very surprised to hear that the project was “off”! Now, how accurate is this news? I can not get any official statement (yet) , so I still believe things aren’t as bad (yet). The only thing I heard was that it may well be possible that the Camarillo Connie “might” be leased for a summer season in Europe, and that the Swiss Connie Group “might” be involved in this. A lot of “grapevine stories”, I know, but I mention them, “just in case”. The Dutch Connie is now safe in KLM’s hangar 14, and is already being repainted in period KLM colours, looking great (although I personnaly should have no objection if it was repainted into today’s KLM livery)! Great pics! Have you any idea how long they are going to stay, and if the filming may involve some other aircraft too? I heard that one of the 4’s is to remain in Europe, and that filming will also take part in Germany. Strange that it is so hard to get info on this movie project. BW Roger

RE: And if you had to move?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-10-02 AT 03:44 PM (GMT)]Well, I hope that one day I can go living in Spain. I come there since I was 3 years old, and to be honest, I feel more at home in Spain than in the country I was born in ( and live). Thanks for my work I often have to live in Belgium, another place where I should like to live ( as I am of Belgium origin) if the weather wasn’t so …. !

    RE: Saving Private Ryan.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-10-02 AT 09:59 PM (GMT)]The Tigers were made out of T34’s, in a very, very convincing way. I don’t think there are any “rolling” Tigers around in the world today. However, several Panthers are still in working order, aswell as at least one Tiger II. I thought the pzkpfw-38’s were the “real thing”. Have a German helmet here at home, found near Point du Hoc in Normandy, so battle damaged that it is a testimony of how insane a war is.

RE: Pic Of The Day-DC 6!

Well, it is a sprayer, not a firefighter. No DC-6es are operational in the USA as firefighter or sprayers (but DC4 and DC7 are). Most probably this is a Dc6 of Conair, based in Canada. Shot was taken in New Zealand in 1996. It is C-GHFB (I think).

    Are you sure it isn’t a DC-4?

    RE: Film versus digital

The D60 is a digital camera made by Canon. It has a 6.000.000 CMOS capability, and is one of the best digital slr’s on the market at the moment. All the canon Eos EF lenses can be “hang” on this camera. Many of the editorial staff pictures in FlyPast are made with the D60 and the older D30. It is a very good camera, if not the best around at this time (can be different next month). It can produce 30 by 40 cm prints without any difficulty.

    RE: Sp[ell Checkers ???

I know, it is a problem. Only found out 2 weeks ago that it is possible to remove all errors by using the edit file (situated under the forum text), since then I could remove the ‘worst’ ones.
