RE: Sp[ell Checkers ???
I know, it is a problem. Only found out 2 weeks ago that it is possible to remove all errors by using the edit file (situated under the forum text), since then I could remove the ‘worst’ ones.
RE: If anyones interested
I am afraid it is a losing battle. I doubt if the big “names” will continue to produce high end slr’s for film users. On the other hand, if digital is good, I have no objection, other than the price, of switching. At the moment the Eos 1Ds (the 11,7 mil. pixels one)is too expensive for me, and even if I had the money, should be “old technique” in a year time, and only worth a fraction of its today value on the second hand market. As I shoot slide (100 iso Kodak), but never even frame them, let alone view them on the big screen, I am looking for a max of A3 in glossy. Think it is time for me to buy a filmscanner. Any recommandations? I thought the new Canon 4000 isn’t bad in performance and price, or is there something better? I need a 4000 scanner to get my A3 in 300 dpi.
RE: Lancaster
Wombat, I agree with you on this subject. An other question now emerged. They are recreating the FW-190 and (2 examples) of the FW-190D. The ME-262 is brought back, but where are all these aircraft go! Apart from one 190 that will remain in Germany and another one that is going to Brazil, they are all going to the USA. The same for the 262’s. One to Germany, the others, most probably USA. How comes that no English collector/organisations is interested in these projects? Why is the “Duxford incrowd” not interested? Is it because they are new? I doubt it as most of their rebuilded aircraft can also hardly been discribed as original . Aren’t they because it isn’t a(yet another)Spifire? Many questions I don’t understand. Isn’t there no one in the UK or France interested in these machines? It can’t be the price either as everytime I visit Duxford, another Spit or newly arrived P51 can be found. The FW-190 is new, much safer made than te original, no spare part problem and a unique type in the airshow scene, but it looks as if Europe’s leading warbird “family” isn’t interested. Why, why, why!
RE: If anyones interested
Sorry Philo, if I was in the neighbourhoud I should come but I am “over the Channel”. Here in Holland we also have this kind of “shows/presentations”. Always interesting to see (and learn) from other photographers. Succes! Looking back at my airshow “career” I remember the days (not so long ago)that a 135 mm was good enough for airshow work while today (“thanks to Ramstein”) a 400 mm is often not big enough. It is getting more difficult every year. I wonder when the times come that “we” trade in our slides for the “digital world”. I am afraid that in a few years time slides will be hard (and expensive) to get.
RE: Lancaster
It is RAF museum isn’t it? So repaint that Boeing into something that has a RAF history ( and a bl##dy beautifull colour livery). Therere enough USAAF B-17ns in the world!
RE: Lancaster
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-10-02 AT 03:24 PM (GMT)]That should be nice! I wonder why the B17 in the RAF Museum isn’t in Coastal Command livery. I also have no objection to see the Duxford B29 being repainted in Washington colours. Missed opertunities? I’ll guess both aircraft were donated by the Americans and painting it in USA(A)F colours was part of the deal.

RE: What do you work as?
Working as a universaty prof in 16th and 17th cent. history, sociology and literature (even I agree this is very, very boring). To compensate this, I also work as a (scientific) journalist, which gives me the action I miss in the daily job.

RE: More Constellation pictures
Here is another one. I took it out of a F50 while over Amsterdam enroute to Lelystad.

RE: Two C54s on the way to North Weald!!
I’ll understand there is more in the pipeline. I heard a total of 3 DC-4’s mentioned, aswell as several Dc-3’s. But as filming will (also) take place in Berlin, maybe the 3rd DC-4 mentioned is the USAF C-54 gateguard at Templehof. That’s all the info I have. Maybe worthwhile to inform the movie company that the Dutch Connie also participated in the Berlin Airlift. Don’t mind seeing it being (water) painted into a military Connie.
RE: Connie on the way to Duxford!!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-09-02 AT 07:40 PM (GMT)]I am one of the few lucky presspeople that will have an air to air encounter with the Connie coming saturday, over the North Sea while it is enroute to Holland. Maybe a P-3 Orion (born Electra and the Lockheed follow up of the Connie) will also join, for a historic vintage Lockheed formation.
Shall post the pictures saturdaynight.
RE: Pretty Trolley Dolly…but whats behind her
