RE: How is that for a tower!
Ja,
Have a look at http://www.axisaircraft.com , all the Spanish “survivors” are there. I think they were operational untill 1973/1974. I remember them flying, together with the Ju-52’s and DHC-4’s while on holiday at Gran Canaria. Unfortunatly, I was not taking photo’s in those days.
RE: Dutch Constellation: Now it is for real
I understand it is in the air now, so hopefully they reach Duxford later this afternoon. At the Warbird Information Exchanche forum it is mentioned to have taken off at 09.00 hrs.
RE: Connie visits Duxford today
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-09-02 AT 02:31 PM (GMT)]What’s wrong, why is it still in Iceland? I have included a shot of it in April, while still in Arizona. The Super Connie in the foreground is expected in Europe in the summer of 2003.

RE: A Connie for Kev
If you go to Duxford this afternoon, you’ll see one for real. ETA around 16.00 hrs
RE: Connie visits Duxford today
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-09-02 AT 10:34 AM (GMT)]I think it will stay overnight. No further news other than that it made a very good ferry so far, and hopefully the flight from Iceland to the UK is going just as well. It must have taken off by now. Check http://www.aviodome.nl for the latest news and the routeplanning. It is under Connie’s Comeback.
RE: Defiant replica
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-09-02 AT 06:11 PM (GMT)]If it is made like the real thing, and looks like the real thing, and it isn’t just a plastc shell like all those Spitfires around (I don’t even like real Spitfires, so you can imagine how I like those plastic fakes)I rate it as a real, but new, aircraft. If it has original parts in it, I rate it as a non flying restauration. The “new” 262’s, the “new” FW-190’s I rate them as new originals. They are going to make a production line of newly built P-51’ns and TF-51’ns now, I don’t care, better than todays Cessna’s, Pipers or VLA’s & MLA’s. Imagine they are going to recreate 12 “new” Lancasters, Halifaxes or Stirlings.
Seeing the photo’s, the Defiant looks great, so to me it is a Defiant, only younger than the other one.

I’ll email you in 5 minutes. BW Roger
RE: Dutch Constellation: Now it is for real
Wheather permitting, it is in the air now, crossing the Atlantic. If so, it is expected in Iceland later this day. It took 1 1/2 years to transform it from the condition at the photo, to a fully operational machine.

RE: North Weald CASA Heinkel 111
Sh** , S**t, *hit. I realy hate this. The one at La Ferte Alais, is going to the Usa, this one is going there. So in a few years time they have 4 flying 111’ns and ‘we’ in Europe have none. The same with the “new” 190’s. They all go over the Ocean. Well with some luck we’ll have a Connie from “them’ , as tomorrow N749NL shall cross the Atlantic!
RE: North Weald CASA Heinkel 111
Why should they remove it otherwise than that it is going to a new destination.I hope it isn’t going to the USA.
RE: Tupolev 144
The last flying 144 (the one with the American engines and the NASA testbed) was sold via E-Bay earlier this year. It will make a last flight to the USA where it will be put on show. The engines are going back to Russia, they weren’t in the deal. And yes, the 144 was earlier, longer, faster and more beautifull (the final variant with the canard wings)than than the Concorde. Saw it only twice in the air. In 1973 when it crashed, and 2 years later. Both times in Paris. There is one on show in Germany, in Sinsheim. It is standing on top of the museum in take off position. Great sight !
RE: Dutch Constellation: Now it is for real
Sorry, it is at Fort Worth, not Houston.
RE: All these Spitfire location questions
I fully agree with you Lancman. This is overkill !
RE: Northrop N-3PB Found
