    RE: It’s easy Kab

To do this, there are several rules. At first, use slow film, 100iso or something like that. Then, there is a very easy way of (more or less)prepare your camera. For shots in the dark, generally you can do this (I mean in real night, not twilight). (D is diaphragma openingT is time). Bring D and T together. So, D is F16, then T is 16 seconds D is F8, T is 8 seconds, F is F4, T is 4 seconds , D is F22 T is 30 seconds. To do this you must put your camera on manual. When you do it automaticly, it’s a gamble. I always do it the above way, making the D and T more or less the same. Mostly, I use F8 – 8 seconds. You need to do some experiments, but the results can be sensational.

These are the combinations a given in the way most camera’s are today.
    D1.8 T2
    D2 T2
    D2.8 T2 or 4
    D4.0 T4
    D5.6 T6
    D8 T8
    D11 T10
    D16 T15
    D22 T30

For best results, use a good tripod and always close the lens 1 or 2 stops over its max opening, which in general will give you 5.6 as a first alternative

    RE: a question

No, any lens will do, you need however a special technique or a “clever” camera. But what do you want to do excectly?

    RE: C-130 crash

A few years ago, another C-130, crashed under more or less the samecircomstances in France. like N130HP, it was a converted C-130A (ex Australian AF ?). It also lost its wings. The American tanker was leased for the fireseason to the French Securite Civile.

    RE: your favourite cities

Madrid, I go there around 6 times a year, and I have a lot of friends living in Madrid

Tucson/Arizona, I like the desert, and there are a lot of aircraft around there

Malta, not a city but so small that this can be included (in my opinion).

In general, I like places where the sun is shining, and palmtrees are growing

    RE: Digital camaras

There are hardly any affordable digital camera’s around today that are suited for action aviation photography. Today, to shoot aircraft at an airfield or airshow, a 300 mm has more or less become a “standard” lens. The cheaper digitals are hardly offering more than 2 or 3 times zoom, which simply isn’t enough. The zoom must be an analog one, digital zoom only means that an enlargement is made of part of the ccd screen. This means that severe loss of quality is encountered when using the digital zoom. My videocamera has a 10 times analog, and a 120 times digital zoom. I can only use the 10 time zoom. A second problem is the printing quality. If you want your digital prints printed to eg 20 by 30 cm, you must have at least a 3m camera. If it is for “on the screen” only, a low resolution camera is enough, but then you still have the lack of zoom. Digital photography is still very “new”. Every 6 months that you wait, you can get better value for money. The old generation camera’s (everything older than 8 months) can then be bought for 30 to 50% of todays price, while the :new” ones are more expensive, but also better. My advise is till buy a good reflex camera with a good lens, and wait for the digital revolution to end. In a year or two. I am still working on analog camera’s, and I wait untill the Canon 1D or the Canon F-60 are being replaced by a new model, and then I buy either of these two. If you only want a camaro to put your pictures on the computerscreen, then buy one. Otherwise,it pays to wait.

RE: Is anyone interested in Poetry?

When music can be discussed here, so can poetry as song lerics are poetry with music behind it.

RE: Weird development of this thread…

If technicaly, it is not an attack on Holland, but “on the world”, this isn’t of any difference to me. The building is situated in the suburbs of The Hague, surrounded by houses (they are going to use an old military building complex). It is only a short drive from my home, so I remain very “involved”. I don’t think there ever will be an attack, as intervention is only possible with a lot of damage done to Dutch civil proporty and lives, so any attack should backfire on the USA. What disturbs me most is the “idea” of this all, the total political arrogance and stupidity.
