Suspect this might have been the activities of car clubs so not motor racing as such. If this is the case the cars using the airfield facilities would be road legal, the irony being that they could drive right through Elvington village (which is about 2 miles from the airfield) and the residents would just have to put up with it.

It’s the same on Bruntingthorpe any complaints are tyre noise… we have 3 villages around us but they are right on the actual perimiter fence but the few complaints that I know of come 2 people in one village halfway down the side

looks like Bruntingthorpe is very lucky with it’s locals then in the pub on Sunday where we are supplied with a meal, they always say “How’s our aircraft then? (Although they usually mean the Vulcan) but they have a feeling for the rest of the collection.

When people are buying property near a site like Elvington and Bruntingthorpe surely their legal people would point out that there was a disused airfield that could be reactivated at any time…. if MOD or Civil Authoities decided to do this their complaints would be totally ignored.

Should do their research better… sorry no sympathy:D

    Are the wires not numbered?
    .

    Hi Toney
Unfortunatley there is a chunk of the loom missing… so I can’t trace them as they go all over the airframe… that’s why I need the charts to give some idea which area I’m supposed to be searching in…

The reason I ask is that a chap I know (who is not averse to telling the odd tall story) reckons he was on the display flight over Southport last weekend.

    Anon.

One big hole in his story is Martin did not fly the Southport Display..

Bill, Kev & Phill were slated for that flight…

    Flight track..

    Leicester (Stoughton) Airport 9th September

    Cosby (Leics) 9th September

    CarFest (North) 9th September

    Southport 9th September

Plus under VTST A8-20 only Flight Crew allowed on a display run not even accredited engineers are allowed…. or that is how it was up until I retired in Dec 2009

I noticed, but thought I’d suggest you check the drain anyway.

Perhaps the outlet is blocked with pink paint…? :diablo:

Looks like water out of the RATs. Perhaps the drains could do with checking?

    S’wat I said in post 2:diablo:

Wasn’t sure if I got your good side or not but the camera didn’t break so I assume I did! Nice to hear that O2 are still playing up as well.

Ok next question Denis, what was the delay between the first run and the second, seemed to be sitting there for a very long time idling, did Bob just want to go and get his camera for the snap of it next to the Lightning?

I wasn’t there for first run, problem with my disabled missus’ telephone contact… both Land line and O2 mobile were down.. had to go home to sort, but I believe that they shut down the main engines after the first run but kept the Artuste running for Photo Shoot..so we didn’t have to drag the GPU down from the other end of the airfield for second start… thats when I returned……. thats me on the lance;)

I think that is water settled in the bottom of the RAT scoops being ejected, I will check with Terry the Crewchief

I am not sure as regards the engine mounts -certainly it happened at Wattisham but I am not sure about the aircraft that escaped by air from Wattisham to Leeming and other bases.

I once had a visit from a group from Waddington to see ‘558 in the hangar during her Major and the W/O in charge stated he was incharge of a team that went round to most of the stored airframes away from Wattisham and his orders where to remove their engines and mounts, although I do know of a few he missed:dev2:
