B17 and P51 – and that’s the whole year to date!
Ignore the crappos in Jersey and just visit the donkeys in Guernsey
nicer and not over commercialised
(had a great 8 years living there) 😀
cool – thanks for the heads up – it’s in Colorado this weekend, so I’ll have to take a ride
cool – how long has this facility been there? I did my commercial licence at this field and don’t remember anything like this! (1990) 😮
Maybe I just didn’t notice 🙁
I do not want to be a pilot
sorry old chap, but if you want to learn to fly you must become a pilot – or an aviator
just do it – it’s great fun (especially in those strange aircraft with the steering wheel at the back! 😀 )
that’s a nice looking building!
mad – but utterly brilliant
what sort of speed was that taxiing after landing 😮
thanks for sharing
leave the airport name alone and name the terminal – keeps everybody happy.
here we have:
DIA – Denver International Airport (guess where that is)
and the tent shapped / mountain range like terminal is call Jeppesen Terminal (named after that chap Elrey B. Jeppesen) whose maps and plates help every pilot get around.
did I say “the” terminal – yes one – with 93 gates and 6 levels, on an airport that is 53 square miles. (but of course the complex computerised baggage system took for ever to sort out 😮 )
pah – who needs 5 terminals plopped down in random fashion I ask you (LHR)
p.s. Southampton will always be known as Eastleigh and EM is still Castle Don
but what do I know? I’ve been Americanized 😮
it’s nowhere near the airfield – it is still owned by Rod Huskey and is in their scrap compound in the industrial area of town
(if you need the exact address e-mail/pm me offline)
find below an enlarged image of the plaque
no I live in Denver – just took a trip to CNM and rattlesnake Canyon as well as the tanker base
spoke to some crews re: airliners used as firefighters.
they recon they would only work somewhere flat like CA.
here in CO – hot and high airfields/large mountains – probably a no-go – even the Neptunes that have had their outboard jets taken off, sometimes have to downsize their loads, at times here.
I’ll post some pics of some lovely Neptunes on the Old Timers board in a few days, when I get home from Grand Junction, CO
boo!
I’d rather see Neptunes, P3’s, DC4’s and Convairs thanks for asking.
Probably useful in some areas, but most firefighting aircraft are staged at smaller airfields closer to the actual fires.
thanks Albert
I also posted some of her leaving the next morning
they took me surprise as they were originally talking of a 7AM departure – got there just as they taxied out – phew!
