Your God is the one true God, known by many names throughout the world? The one who intervenes on all sides of every conflict?
something happens that matters a lot to me, I’m thanking God. Can’t know what his involvement in it was, if at all, but in the end, gotta give him credit for anything that happens. Or do you not believe in God? If not, there’s no reason to discuss any further.
I think it’s funny that non-americans were so hopeful for a bush defeat. A recent survey showed a large majority of Europeans wanting to see america weakened in it’s power. Nearly the exact same percentage showed support for John Kerry.
And you wonder why Americans voted George Bush in with the most votes in American election history?
As far as only 15-17% of the “youth vote” coming out. Thank God. The 18-24 age group is the least educated, least informed, and least experienced group there is. Not to mention they are the least accustomed to the real world, real world probelms, working, taxes and family life.
When they’re ready to vote, and feel that they are informed to vote, and when they get to the point when they realize the implications of their decision, the’ll have the confidence to make a decision. then they vote.
Voting because “it’s cool”, or because your parents tell you to, is damaging to our democratic process. On;y people who are informed, and fully understand the issues should vote. It is a clear trend that this happens.
Young people just don’t really care as much, or they don’t know enough to make a sound decision. The fact thet they do not vote much shows that they at least don’t care as much.
I hate it when I see celebrities and such saying “go out and vote” “vote vote vote”, “rock the vote” “vote for _______”.
They never EVER say “study the past”, “read up on the candidates”, “understand the implications of voting/not voting”
The reason so few of that group don’t vote is because so few actually care enough to vote. If they studied the facts, they would care.
I will admit, I expected Kerry to drag it out, b*tch an dmoan, sue sue sue…
And he didn’t. He waited until it was absolutly clear, and then conceded. Very honorable. I think he must also have seen what happened to Gore after his fiasco. Now Gore is viewed more negativly than ever.
I had NO respect for him before. now, I have some respect for him. not much, but some.
Bush wins it. It’s not “official” yet, because Bush has 269 electoral votes, and needs 270 to win. He’s leading in two of the four remaining states, so it looks pretty solid. If Kerry somehow managed to win all four of them, The House would vote, and the House is republican. Bush has been re-elected.
Also very interesting, Bush has won the majority of the popular vote–something Clinton never did. And, the margin he won by is nearly 4 million–very high. In fact, it’s a record for the most votes recieved for an American President.
The Republicans gained seats in the senate and the House, even dumping Dachale, the democratic senate leader.
Me, my wife, our familes…are thanking God right now.
I KNOW about the real history of Wallace, Edward I, etc… Like I said, I was trying to get your goats by using more movies in which history was changed, usually showing the british as evil.
Braveheart was an absoolutly wonderful, awe inspiring, emotional movie, with a fantastic plot. Just as long as you can suspend disbelief, or are not a history buff.
I am, and it kinda ruins the movie for me. The absolute worst were pearl harbor and U-571. My GOD, I saw the story about the enigma device when I was 10, watching victory at sea… Truely ****es me off that some idiot might think “we” did it, cause he saw the movie.
Back on topic…
The crucifixion scene in the passion… where they flip the cross over to bend the nails secure. that was just such an effective use of detail, it almost disgusted me to see it. Absolutly ingenius.
A surprising one for me… The coffin scene in Kill bill 2. I am not claustrophobic, at all. Yet watching that in a dark theatre had me struggling to breathe.
Actually, I thought there were some very emotional lines in the lord of the rings, particularly the last one. the king’s speech to rohan before the charge–very well done.
Sam telling frodo, he can’t carry his burden, but he could carry him–that was good too.
The reasoning for this is pretty obvious. The US is saying that if they were involved in a war, and the galileo system was being used against the US forces, then we would shoot them down. What’s so hard to understand about that?
Of course we would shoot them down.
Would anyone expect the US to leave them up there, potentially causing the deaths of US servicemen? Of course not.
when it comes to war, you don’t keep the playing field even.
Is it “Fair” that we not only have GPS, but will make sure only our side has it? Is it “fair” that we will have the ability to destroy the sattelite network of our enemy, but they won’t be able to do it to ours(maybe)?
No, it’s not. That’s war.
first of all, I don’t see us getting into war with China any time soon, especially after what Powell said recently.
I just saw this statement as the US being clear, that if the system becomes a threat to US, we will deal with it as such–nothing personal.
On a related note, the ABL is supposed to have a very high anti-satellite ability. Considering the thing has a potential rang ein excess of 200miles through the atmosphere, I would assume it to be even greater straight up. Also, taking out a rocket is probably a much more difficult task than disabling a satellite, bristling with antennae.
Of course, that all depends on IF the thing ever works.
The girl in the red dress in shindler’s list…
I thought the end of the Passion of the Christ was a real tear jerker–after the brutality, the ending was so subtle, so perfect, it had atheists in tears.
Oh, how about in the Patriot, when that british guy killed Mel Gibson’s son?
Or in Braveheart, when he was being hung, drawn and quarterd by orders of Edward I.
Or in U571, when the Americans finally recovered the enigma device…
just trying to get your goats….
I think the end to forrest Gump, when Jenny died…that does it.
I’ve tried boddingtons a few times. Only a few places have it on tap. Usually it’s in the can with the widget. good stuff. I like it much better than guiness.
Partial to amber beers myself. Some local brew called red oak is especially good. Not heavy, but very flavorful. Probably my favorite beer.
Dos equis amber is also very good…
Never crazy for the soupy, can’t see light through the glass, guiness type beers though… You europeans definatly have a different taste.
though I do agree budwieser is pretty nasty stuff. I like michelobe better.
An American tourist in England walks around in London at 01:00 AM and suddenly realises he must pee. So he goes into a side ally and just as he unzips his pants he feels an arm holding him on the shoulder, he turns around and sees a cop. The cop tells him that he cannot **** in that side alley and takes him to another alley. The American looks around him and sees a magnificent garden, with fountains and beautifull grass and flowers. So he ****ed there, and then turned around to talk to the cop.
“Thank you very much officer. Say, is this what you call English courtassy?”
“No, this is what we call France embassy.”
President Bush and the Pope are sailing down the Potomac on the Presidential yacht. The wind blows the Pontiff’s cap off and it falls into the water. President Bush orders the yacht stopped, gets off and walks across the water to retrieve the Pope’s cap.
The next day’s headline in the New York Times reads: BUSH CAN’T SWIM.
Obviously, the US was at a disadvantage. It was never supposed to present even odds, which are the only way one could infer a “winner” or “loser”. I’m sure they do this to prevent embarassment, train for such situations(worst case scenarios),a nd push for the need of the F-22.
From what I read recently, the US was not using the full range potential of the Amraams. This seems to contradict what I read back in March(?) that mentioned the US did better in BVR. kinda strange. Maybe just because the reports came from different people, with different levels of understanding of military things.
Those weirdly shaped lights are nothing. They could be ANY light source, a plane, star, etc. the definitave shape caused by the iris of the video camera focusing in on a far away object has been the cause for many a UFO sighting.
Zoom in on any light that is far and tiny, and you will eventually see the light cut off by the iris of the camera–usually diamond shaped.
Many people have commented, “Oh my god, it’s CHANGING SHAPE!!!!” when video taping far away UFO’s though regular camcorders. As they zoom in, the blur of light is cut off by the iris, and the resulting image is simply the shape of the iris, filled with whatever light is coming in(the object).
Any time you see a zoomed in pic of a UFO, that displays VERY defined edges(more so than SHOULD be seen in a zoomed in object), it’s simply the iris.
Kerry is a throw away candidate. Plain and simple. the only way he gets in is if the dems can make the situation in Iraq seem as bad as possible. they ignore the gains made, and th egoood done, and instead focus on the bad things, hoping to get everyone thinking that Bush needs to go.
simply because Kerry has nothing to offer. He wants to make health care a RIGHT??
Hell, even TYLENOL is a privelige. Equating taxpayer funded healthcare with the right to free speech, the right of freedom of religion, and thr right to bear arms is insulting.
He ridicules Tax reform, clearly playing on the ignorance of his constituates.
He has claimed that he will get US forces out of Iraq ASAP,a nd replace them with European troops. you see, Kerry can get them to change thier minds…. so he says.
this is a guy that has the GALL to use his military service as a platform, despite the fact that he denounced it 30 years ago!
At least France, Germany and Russia were consistent from the start–they did not want Iraq attacked. Kerry PUSHED for saddam’s removal, unilaterally, in the 90’s. KErry Backed Bush in OIF, defending the war as recently as a YEAR ago. He even told a guy–to his face, ON camera, less than a year ago–that “if you don’t support the war, you shouldn’t vote for me.”
Now, his ENTIRE focus is how Bush lead us astray.
political oppurtunisim at it’s MOST disgusting.
All the whole thing has done is concentrate a focal point where extreamists can find easy targets>>>>>>
Well, it also goes the other way around. Personally, I want these people concentrated in an area far away from our lands, and surrounded by as many US and UK forces as posisble. We are certainly better off with most of them there than hiding in apartments, being quiet, sneaky, developing plots to kill thousands OVER HERE.
I don’t necessarily feel it’s putting our troops “in harm’s way”. It puts THE TERRORISTS in bad situation. They have to defeat the US and UK military, as well as the Iraqi military. If they fail, Iraq will become an example of the FAILURE and evil of militant islamish terror beliefs and ways. IF Iraq succedes, the rest of the muslim world will not be able to ignore the fact that America helped Iraq, and the terrorists tried to kill innocents in order to HINDER the success of Iraq.
(By the way, I wasn’t referring to you saying that we were losing, it was a general statement)
Look at this, further info about Kerry. It supports what I said about him earlier.
