DLP’s, LCD projections, and CRT projections all require a very
expensive bulb to display their image onscreen. This bulb burns
out in time, 3-5 years. These bulbs go from $200 to $500
    dollars. Keep that in mind.

I was pretty usrethat I was going to buy a DLP, as they have
awesome pictures, resolution,a nd no ghosting and burn in. But
they do not last that long.

Plasma TV’s and CRT’s last much longer. Plasmas not so long as
CRT’s, but CRTs can only get to be around 34″.

I would only consider plasmas if I were planning on buying a new
big screen TV. They are more expensive up front, but they shoudl
last longer, and have better pictures, expecially for gaming.

On paper, LCD’s seem better for gaming, but play a game with
them, and you’ll see the ghosting and fading artifacts. I haven’t
seen one without them, and they ruin it for me.

Really, he’s asking to go to war, ruining any hope of Iraq becoming
a democracy. If Isreal is at war with Iran (shiites), and friends with
the US, the Shiites in Iraq may become agitated, to say the least.
Which is why we will in all honesty, probably be better off just
nuking Iran into non-existance right now…

This is actually a dumber, crazer thing to say than anything Kim
jong il has said recently. Iran is saying they’re building nukes.
They have a right to buld nukes. Then, they say Isreal must be
wiped off the map, and muslim nations that don’t side with them
will burn (esentially, nuked by Iran).

In effect, they’re saying that they want nukes to nuke Isreal and
any surronding nations that don’t support them in nuking isreal…
oh, yeah, and “Death to America”…they’ve been saying that too…

Do they not remember that this is the same Isreal that used their
shiny new F-16’s to destroy Saddam’s nuclear reactor? Now, the
whole world is thinking (but not saying it out loud ) “thank GOD
that the Israelis did that then, so Saddam didn’t have nukes!”
I bet there’s a good chance history will repeat itself.

Somone’s going to attack Iran, and we’ll be thankful in 20 years…

LCD’s would be it except for the sceen door effect. Plug a game
in the TV you want befor eyou buy it.

LCD’s may look incredible with a picture on them, but for action,
the same tv can look terrible.

Video games usually look terrible on LCDs just because of this
effect, if somethign moves, or fades in and out,it leaves a trace ont
he screen – it’s hard to describe, so you have to see for yourself.

Besides, lcd’s don’t really come any bigger than 37 inches, and
they’re more expensive than plasma in the big sizes.

I hear later model, high end plasmas have measures to fix burn in
to a degree. Plasmas will cotinue to dim over their lives, but
should last ~10 years. LCD’s will last longer as a whole, but
performance degredation means the loss of individual pixels,
leaving you withn holes in you picture.

I’ve been researching this myself – I’m only going to get an LCD if
they fix that window problem. Otherwise, I’m only gettin gCRT’s
and plasmas – anything with a projection burns out in 3-5 years,
which is unacceptable for me. 34″ and under, I’d get a CRT, over
that, get plasma – but test it first, digital cable can look terrible on
HDTV’s if they don’t have the right line doubler. HDTV will look
grea ton al of them, but regualr digital TV (that’s not HD ) will have
to be scaled to display on the HDTV – you’re trying to put 480
lines of resolution on a screen with over 1000, sometimes this
looks great, sometimes it looks worse than an analog TV.

The most important thing to do before buying an HDTV is to see
what it looks like displaying all signals – HD, analog (includes
    DVD!), and video games.

Being in water (lakes, river sand the ocean) and not being able to
touch the bottom. Creeps me out.

Related to fear #1 – sharks. If I were scuba diving, no problem.
But swimming, feet dangling into the unkown…. nope, not for me.

Cockroaches. Which is weird, because I breed tropical roache
sot feed my reptiles… as long as they’re my roaches, and in their
tanks, they’re ok. The moment they hit the floor an scurry, I freak
out. I see a dead roach in the hallway at my office, and it ruins my
    day.

Heights make me dizzy and nervous, when I’m on the ground. In a
palne, no big deal, but on a roof, orr cliff… or worse yet a bridge…

Bridges make me nervous. Especially big, tall, narrow bridges.
The worst in history must be the old cooper river bridge. They’ve
built a new cable stay bridge which is the most beautiful bridge I’ve
ever seen (and a huge, massive structure), but the old one, while a
historical masterpiece, was one of the most terrifying experiences
of my life – seriously. The thing is TALL, and long, and only 20
    feet wide (two 10ft. lanes)… and it’s aobout 75 years old too…

Big eyes, skinny greay aliens scare me…I hope they don’t exist
    like that.

The US government has activly been involved in covering up
certain UFO related things. This is pretty clear.

There are only so many reasosn for this:

    1. No aliens, just human technology that the government doesn’t
want people coming into contact with for any number of reasons.
It’s dangerousn, secret, or just government classified burocratic
    BS.

    2. No aliens, but the governmnet doesn’t want people messing with
thigns/looking into things, so they give an impression of secrecy, to
take the focus away from the thing they really want to keep secret.
It’s a hoax created for national security.. I doubt it.

    3. Aliens, and the Governemnt doesn’t know what the heck is
going on. They are just as ni the dark as we are, except they knwo
they’re are aliens, and the aliens are interested in us, for unknown
reasons. The government doesn’t know what would happen if it
were “known”, and since they don’t know, for sure, they’re
    keeping us in the dark.

    4. Aliens, and the governmet’s got an idea as to what they’re up
to. This sounds bad, since if there were good aliens, I’m sure thery
woudl be more open about it. I can’t see aliens being “evil”. It just
doesn’t make too much sense. Only reason for evil aliens is to
take Earth from us. Which is so cliche, I hope that’s not their
reason. Besides, they’ll have to pull earth from our cold, dead
hands… We’ll nuke it to cinders before we let them have it…. and
    they know it.

    5. Aliens, and the governemnt’s working WITH them for
whatever reasons. Could be good or bad, especiall yif the aliens
are playing the government. Conspiracy theorists would love for
    this to be true.

I’m thinking 1,2 or 3. I want to believe in aliens, as it’s cool. I
don’t think we’ll be able to travel far enough in my lifetime to find
intelligent life, so the only way for now is for it to come here.
Unfortunatly, nearly all alien stories are obviously made up, and the
mainstream alien abductee people are clearly kooks. They
certainly don’t contribute to the validity of the argument.

I’m sure there is life off of the earth.

If you are 100% scientific, then it’s hard to believe that only on
earth did life originate and evolve. It seems infinitely impossible for
    life to just be here.

If you are 100% religious, and ignore science, then it seems to be
rather odd that God limited his omnipotence and omnibenevelonce
and omnicience to just one little rock. If he bothered to miracle all
the stars in all the galaxies into tha vast reaches of space, why stop
with life at earth? You’d think that life elsewhere would be further
    proof of God’s greatness.

Most people are somewhere in between, which means alien life
    should be acceptable.

We don’t know what kind of alien life there is. We’ve come really
far in the past few hundred years. Once we found out how to
really use electricity, it only took about 100 years to get to the
moon. I doubt any aliens made it so far so quick, no matter how
    advanced they are now!

We very well might be the most advanced, “highest” beings in
existance. In our thousands of years of space travel, we might
come across advancing civilizations, yet to reach space. Maybe
we’ll terraform worlds across the galaxy, never finding another
    spacefaring civilization.

We might meet beings far more advanced than us, with technology
we simply cannot understand. They might consider us to be
    insignificant vermin.

On the other hand, we could meet beings that are more advanced
technologically, in some ways, but behind us in others. Aliens that
figured out how to travel space, but never figured out the
microporcessor. Maybe advanced space faring scumbags, who
wish to enslave/eat us. We might be “better” than them…just can’t
    tell.

It’s not the Iranian people, it’s not so much their government – it’s
the theocratic mullahs and weird-beards that dictate things that are
    the problem.

When you see Iran’s streets, hear the people – it’s not so bad.
However, when you see a large public islamic service, where the
predominant t theme is literally “death to America, death to
Israel”, you can’t help but wonder…

I’ve got friends in Iraq – literally. In the Sunni regions, they’re
killing ex-saddamites, Saudis and other foreigners. In the Shiite
reigions, most everyone they’re killinmg is Iranian, and they’ve
been using bombs unlike what saddam had stockpiled. It’s
generally accepted (but not really spoken of much) that the Iranian
theocrats are sending and funding most of the attacks in the Shiite
regions of Iraq, and the government isn’t doing much about it.

the mullahs of Iran are directly involved in the murder of Iraqi
civilians, Americans, and Iraq police and military.

The Iranian governemnt isn’t doing/can’t do anything about it.

They lack the ability to keep such power from the crazy
    terrorists.

Halo’s got Peter Jackson producing it and Weta doing the SFX. I think they’re going to have to try really hard to make a bad movie with PJ holding the strings.
